I've heard some comments on the news by soldiers and in some documentaries that make it sound like they look down on all us regular people. How can you defend people you who's lifestyle you find inferior?

When can and how difficult is it for an enlisted man to get a slot for airborne school? I'm looking to enlist soon, and airborne is one of my main aspirations. Yet, at the same time I'm also considering the marines, and was curious about airborne.

So it looks like they're going to try to pass this. Hopefully, it has no chance in passing but who knows. I have to think how ironic it is for them to bring this all out AFTER they were just re-elected.

What do you think?

lacks the will to fight a decisive war with overwhelming firepower, inflicting severe damage on the enemy, and enemy supporters? Is this evident in the ultraprecise weapons that take out targets, but leave the average person almost unaware that a war exists, except what is read in the paper? Does this paradigm compel a hostle nation to view the free world as liberators, or would capitulation under extreme suffering be more effective in bringing a long lasting peace?

Then why doesn't Israel just do the same? They should just put civilians around all the the places in Israel that the Palestinians target. (Like cafe's, public busses, villages near the borders, etc)

You can give us the short version if you don't want to type a lot of lines!

I saw a guy freak out and lock himself into an Ambulance when we were outside during a marching drill, and during intake, I saw another guy break out of the line and run out of the building when they anounced they were going to do a Urinalysis!

What is your strange and/or funny Boot Camp story?

are you aware that the democrats plan for a change in Iraq involves the reinstatement of the draft? How do you feel about that?

The reason I ask is most people who I meet who are rabidly anti-Bush, are that way because they don't want us involved in the middle east. Yet, the democrats plan to drastically increase our military presence there and to basically force people to join the armed forces and go there. They are obviously preparing to declare war on Iran, Syria, North Korea, possibly Lebanon etc.

also what type of people will be drafted rich or poor? who will be exempt? i believe all students should be considering they are our future....but. its not my country to decide.
When china expanded the world demanded why? i wonder if the same we be asked of america?

As can be expected from our Liberal brethren, a senior member of the incoming, democratically controlled, congress is calling for a military draft to be instated.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061119/ap_on_go_co/military_draft_3

I, for one, distinctively remember the Dems using the prospect of a draft as ammo in the 2004 presidential race. Seeing this new development, I am actually shocked with myself for not noticing the absence of such rhetoric during the 2006 congressional elections. We now see why. But, I must say that I do believe that every male citizen of the U.S. should be required to serve in the military for at least 2 years. I believe this would give today’s youth a better sense of responsibility and pride in their nationality. My question is this. First, what are your thoughts on required military service? Second, what are your thoughts on this newly proposed draft? And third, how do both make you feel?
