False premise.

You can join the military and be flat-footed. I am flat footed and I'm beginning my 13th year in the Army. I'm also near-sighted and color-blind.

Now, if you have flat-feet and a history of joint problems, then you can be disqulaified, but talk to the orthopedist at MEPS, describe the situation and let them make the determination.

In the military there is alot of standing, marching, and just plain ole being on your feet. People who are "flat footed" have different stress points on their feet and may not be able to take these kinds of activitys. Having foot problems in the military is just plain bad. You will quickly realize that if you have any physical limits the military will test them.
