Your example would work better if Russia or England or China was the invader, but it's a valid point.
People blame the Iraqi insurgents for fighting in a civil war, against a govt they didn't elect which was established when an enemy country unilaterally invaded and deposed the ruling govt. Whether we like them or not, it's fair to ask if they have reasonable grounds for defending their country against hostile occupying forces.

First, the Iraqi army is still in the stone ages. Remember the first time Americans went there? The Iraqis wont even police themselves, do you think they could ever unify and attack the United States? Please pose questions with some relevance. Also, to some of you who believe the civil war is not going on. Ask those who have been there, like myself. There is a civil war, not against a government they didn't elect, but against each others religion. Politics is a byproduct of the conflict. This is a religious civil war, plain and simple.

You picked the wrong city to invade.
New Yorkers wouldn't even need the military. They would kick your Iraqi butts and run you into the sea.
I think they could just use 5th graders with automatic weapons and they would take you and still have time for lunch and a nap.

The worse thing we could do is corrupt them into becoming Americans. Make the Iraqis into fat, lazy, un informed couch potatos that squander most of their wealth on passive consumerism. After a few generations they will long for the old country.

It's comical because it would never happen! I think the US has made it clear that we fight back when we're attacked and our people are threatened. We done this before 9/11, but 9/11 just made us that much more determined to protect what is ours.
