I was talking to an AF recruiter about being a linguist, and he said that the AF really needs good linguist. My mom said linguists get all the dangerous jobs, which doesn't make sense to me. If they're so hard to train and keep, and they can do their work indoors, why would their jobs be dangerous? My mom doesn't have any military background and I'm wondering if she's trying to scare me.
By the way, is it true you can get linguist garenteed in your contract?

I often have heard the statement "we shouldn't go to war unless there is imminent danger."

To the libs: tell me how exactly we prevent an attack if it's imminent??

I am so sick and tired of hearing that we "lost" the Iraq War or that we are "losing" the Iraq War. The last time I checked we took over that piece of crap country in two weeks and we ousted their maniacal dictator who will now, likely hang. THAT was the end of the War. This whole rebuilding of Iraq is ridiculous. Those people do not want our help. Let's leave now. America's War strategy should no longer be to try and civilize the savages. We should let the savages do what they want to do. However, when they become a threat, we should go in, take over their country and pound them back to the stone age and then LEAVE again. We can do it again, and again and again. Sooner or later, they'll get it. How do you get rid of the rats and cockroaches in New York City? You DON'T. All you can do is control the problem, so long as they don't take over and they don't go from being an annoyance to a threat.

Should i not be given credit for exercising my 'freedom', the very same freedom everyone here keeps mentioning, but apparently its freedom as long as you blindly support the troops and blindly support the puppet masters pulling their strings in the white house.

We have a young couple at church and the man is a US Marine who will be going to Qatar for the next six months. We're wondering what to give him/them to help them get though the separation. They always share a Bible at Bible Study, so someone suggested a Bible. Will they let him take one to Qatar? Someone else suggested a phone card. Is there a special card for Qatar? Where do we go to get one? Will he be able to use it? Someone else suggested a CD player or an iPod. Is this a good idea? Someone else suggested sending her over to visit him at the mid point of his tour. Is this an option? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

If the government is talking about leaving Basra within 6 months why don't they just leave now - 6 months won't make a difference just save more soldiers from dying leaving earlier.

gun happy and responsible for some war crime and revenge killings, we USA troops really "emotionaly " capable of a hearts and mind game in iraq.. look at the UK .. in most of their porvinces there is peace,, but in USA areas is where violence is the worst.. i think that is because American soliders thinks "shoots first and ask questions later"! not their fault.. they had no cultural training and even though there are a lot of intelligent there are a lot of how should i put it! Under par slodiers in Iraq.. think about it.. the normal infantry solider does not have good A level or a degree. ( but the officers usually have degrees and are vetted for leadership and intelligence etc..
|Cultural training would have solved a lot of probems for the americans.. respecting the iraq people and not flying their colours high with no iraqi flag beside it... **** would you like it if that happened in your country that was just invaded..

Hey we invaded Iraq.. we caused the current problem,, before we went there one minority controlled the majority with an iron first and people were too scared to rebel.. people we tortured etc..
then gun hoe USA and UK invaded ( the right thing but for the wrong reasons!!)
Now the place is in chaos and Iraq people are sttling old scores.. killing the opposite "tribes"
we caused this problem and now we have to face up to the responsibilites and keep our troops there for a long time... ( just comparing it to the length of time UK troops were in Northern ireland..)
We should not withdraww untill problem is solved...

Why should we be any more afraid of a big bomb than a long drawn out war which ends with the same effect? Preemptive strike, make a list, check it twice, and hit them first.

Preliminary reports from Newsweek state they will dodge the issue of what the size of the US troops presence in Iraq should be.

They will also dodge a specific timetable for withdrawal.

President Bush is still saying "we will not withdraw troops" and "the only way we will leave is with victory". So if the American people have any hopes of a better plan from the Baker - Hamilton Reports, forget it. It's not going to happen. Do you agree or not? & why?
