Lost cause? I think so. Due to the political pressure back here in the States the job was never going to get done the way it should have been.
Pull out? I am curious about that. I'm wondering how we would pull our troops out in such a way as to not make the ones temporarilly left behind more vulnerable since Iraq is so unstable.. Obviously they can't all leave at the same time.
I wonder how those who just want them out of Iraq lock, stock and barrel would deal with that situation. It seems like it is all or nothing. Stay there or leave. Who is going to point to which soldier and say you get to go home immediately and you can't. You get to leave in a month from now but in the meantime don't get killed.
If we care soo much for all of our troops wellbeing how is leaving prematurely going to give the utmost protection to all of them. No one here at Yahoo answers who just wants the troops out addresses what the consequences are to those left behind waiting for their turn to leave.
Die in vain? I would say to those who lost a loved one in Iraq before the job is done, yes. To all of those who are just anti-war or anti-Bush, probably not. I don't think they will give it a second thought. The soldiers who have fought and died in Iraq are props to be used politically any way they can. If they truly cared then they would be taking into consideration how to get *all* the troops home safely moreso then just constantly saying get them out without even realizing to do so with the conditions being what they are in Iraq that a higher percentage of men and women will die during the transition.

I think that Iraq is somewhat of a lost cause. If they don't want to take our advice and stand up on their own and not let other terrorists take control of them, then we should pull out ONLY WHEN it is safe to do so... right now, I do not see it as a good time to pull out, and we need to do it slowly too, and not try to leave all at once. We will just harm ourselves if we do that. I don't think that the deaths of our soldiers will be in vain if we pull out. They went over there to serve their country and they did. They also knew going over there that we do not win each war, and this is one of those cases. I am proud of every soldier that we lost and the ones that make it home safely. I think that the only way that our soldiers deaths would be viewed in vain is if people do not respect what we have and are doing out there and by some Americans putting us down.

If you think that Iraq is a 'lost cause' then you need to look beyond the traditional news media for your information.
In fact one of the major sources for your information regarding Iraq - AP - has been caught printing bogus stories that were fed to them by the enemy.
As a result the news you have been getting on the war is what the enemy wants you to hear - not the truth. The only question now is: 'Was it simple incompetence - or deliberate?'

Just think about it for a second. Would you really consider to let more people die, because otherwise other people would have died in vain???
They are dead already, and they died for the greed of politicians and business people. I call that "for nothing".
As for pulling out. the US and their hounds should never have gone in there in the first place. They did so to get control of the Iraqi oil, and they will not leave until the last drop is sucked out of the soil, the accompanying blood of civilians is just a negligeable by-product to them.
They won't let any soldiers leave, unless they are forced to, as they were forced out of Vietnam.
I, for one, am looking forward to the day of the helicopters evacuating the last US warmongers from the roof of their embassy.

Dying while trying to do what you think is right is not dying in vain.
