If worse comes to worse, is the United States of America, a country that helped win the first two World Wars, able to be the first to get in a World War and win? With all of today's technology, what is your opinion? Can the U.S. support a war and win?

Seems that if we had established some terms of surrender before dropping the atomic bombs we could have saved some lives. Unconditional surrender could have meant permanent annexation of Japan by the US for all they knew. Why not assure them of some things to get them to surrender?

I feel my life will be useless unless i work for my country for my motherland INDIA. all other jobs seem a waste to me. I have got a job in mnc now and my family does not want me to let go of it. Should i chase my dream or do i just accept my fate. One thing for sure i will be never happy in my life if i dont work in an uniformed service that is sure.

I love this speech. It shows the closeness of the US Army (or any other branch) and also shows why we in the military show this profession.

I am not in the infantry (I am MP) but I can relate to a lot of stuff the LTC was stating....

Maybe the issue of what we do is simplified by the reality that we are not doing well with the War of Terror. We have given up on the orginal goals stated by Bush, democracy and all that, and we are hoping that Iraqi will settle down long enough for us to escape.
The evidence that we are not doing well is in the facts-on-the-ground. So, we need to find a better way out of Iraq and do Afganistan right. Can we agree on that?

... when I am totally against the reason they're there in the first place and despise the leaders who sent them there for nothing more than political gain? How can I best show support for the troops, even if I don't believe they're doing "good"?

I know it's not their fault -- they're not to blame for following the legally valid orders of wicked men.
