(1) Football (soccer) is NOT a "dumb" sport. It happens to be the most widely followed, played, and lucrative sport in the world, hands down, with plenty of DECENT fans. Don't take a screenname at face value and shoot off at the mouth like an idiot. No one here mouthed off on hockey (more fighting), baseball (more steroids), American football (more salary abuse), and basketball (more narcotics). Keep your idiotic sports commentary to yourself.

(2) Canadian troops are NOT in Iraq (unless they are detached from their units for some sort of liaison work, possibly) but they are in Afghanistan.

(3) The Canadian government chose to put its troops in Afghanistan because that was a legitimate peacekeeping effort in line with past Canadian participation in every UN mandated operation in the past. The Afghan mission happens to be sanctioned by NATO, same as in the Balkans.

(4) From Lebanon to Kosovo, Canadians have served admirably in trying to ensure human rights abuses don't take place in areas where rule of law has failed. This has nothing to do with the "problems of the United States".

(5) Spellcheck is your friend. "Promblems" is not a word.

(6) Once again, Football (soccer) is a legitimate, decent sport. I've enjoyed playing matches with everyone from Iraqi kids to Iraqi Police and Army personnel. It's a great way to cross the language barrier and find some common humanity.

(7) Good people have business wherever others are suffering. Afghanistan, Rwanda, Darfur. Canadians are doing their part. Instead of doubting good works, Questioner, think about how you can do yours.

Oh my Lord, pick up a newspaper, watch some news would you. Canadian soldiers ARE NOT in Iraq. We are in Afghanistan to rid that country of the Taliban. Afghanistan IS NOT " a George Bush war", we were asked to participate through the UN (if you don't know that's the United Nations. I'd ask you, do we not have a responsibility to the other nations of the world to STOP oppression?

Did you know that Canadian citizens were killed on 9-11 also? The war in Iraq is a strategic front in the war on terror. To defeat terrorism you need to give the people who would become terrorists hope. A reason to live. That is something democracy will do. And THAT is why your countrymen should be there also. BTW it used to be called the WORLD trade center for a reason, it isn't a USA problem, it is a WORLD problem.

The Canadian Soldiers are in Afghanistan not Iraq.
Iraq is not the USA's problems but the world's problems against Islamo-Fascist terrorism.

There's Canadian soldiers in Iraq? Where? Seriously though, they have a vested interest in this as does everyone else not willing to convert to the Muslim religion by force.

Because they understand that Islamist terrorism is a global problem, that people are dying all over the world for failing to suppress it before it gains strength.

If the US falls to Islam, the rest of the world will soon follow.

we are allies. also, terrorist have been filtering thru Canada to the U S. my understanding is that the Canadian Govt really gets upset when another country uses their country as a staging area to attack a third country. i sure wouldn't want gang bangers meeting in my back yard to plan an attack on my neighbor. what's to keep them from turning on me?
