War is never "Meaningless", There is a reason behind every-war that has ever been fought, regardless if it was for the right or wrong reasons. It is what some of the worlds greatest minds have refered to as a "Necessary-Evil". Unfortunately, This is true. Where would the world be had we never went to war? I can say this, we would most likely all be speaking German or Japanese. Hope this helps you in finding an answer. God Bless America, And Our Troops! 1st. Sgt., 7th Special Forces, (Ret.) In straight-forward terms, WAR should be used as a last resort for all other actions. It is only necessary as a last resort when all else fails along the lines of talks. Most countries have dignified ways of dealing with conflict verbally through leaders, peace organizations, such as NATO and the United Nations. When all else fails in terms of treaties, alliances, trade deals, and eventually ultimatums, the Articles of War are taken into consideration. However, even war has its rules and regulations. In barbarian times, it was whoever could kill the general first. In today's socities, most nations have to follow by the Articles of War, and if they don't, they can face harsh war crime punishments. By all means war should be the very last decision for any nation to ever consider. It is most unfortunate these days that most countries use war as their first option. Too many people suffer, die under brutual results, and others who do survive, still suffer with biblical-sized psychological torment. War is so bad that many allied soldiers during the Great War, WWII, and the Vietnam War as well as many other confrontations chose their own prescribed death over staying.

I agree that war is meaningless. If everyone did what was right then we would not feel a need to protect our country. We should not have a to fight over resources of any type. We should distribute them according to population. No country should have more than it needs to support it' people. If each nation could come to an understanding then we would not look down on each other then there would be no war.

If you believe Mussollini War is a national purgative and is necessary. While wars seems to be an unavoidable necessity under certain circumstances to discipline somebody who is going out of bounds, the prolem is who can be a proper judge who is wrong and who is right.A Sanskrit aphosism says ,
Why we should wrach our brains in discussions?
Why not just act and cut the Gordian knots?
Wisdom says that discussions may occasionally lead just that But occasionally may solve the problems.
The League of Nations and UNO are better alternatives There also they yak-yak and yak but it does not lead to breakage of heads.

So keep talking. It is better to create a pendemonium, throw papers (and occasionally paperweights), seize the mikes upturn tables etc. than to go out and have a physical.

This is not a question that can be answered n general. But some war is not only necessary, but also inevitable. some of the obvious reasons for might be independence (revolutionary war) liberation (WWII), and stopping murderous madmen in power (WWII again, the current war in the mid-east)

War is a failure of diplomacy. One of our biggest problems is we have no dialog with any of our perceived enemies. It is only necessary if our borders are violated or we are attacked. Why we are in Iraq, I have no idea, when all but one of the 9/11 terrorist were from Saudi Arabia and the were trained in Afghanistan.

In general war is always meaningless. but it ALSO is sometimes necessary. The destruction of the terrorist is necessary. just as fighting the Nazi's and Japan were in WW II.

War is to be avoided at all cost.
but when you cannot avoid it, it must be met head-on with all the ferocity you can muster and to end it as swiftly as possible.

All that is necessary for evil to suceed is for good men to do nothing.

If you know anything about history--look at the wars that we have fought. If we had not been there fighting and winning--you would not be where you are today, sitting in front of your computer-as I am, with the freedom you have. Use the brain that you were given and think logically.

yes and yes. brave men march off to war, cowards run and if you don't thin out the brave ones periodically, what would be going into the gene pool. besides if you are an arm chair general or a "Dove" the brave men give you something to second guess and to whine about
