If you re-inlist, you can ask for another MOS, the recruiter will tell you if this is possible or not. And often you can ask for your first duty station ( choice of three normally)
But there is no promice that you won't be re-assigned latter back to any other post.

If you reenlist you will not be in the same ship. Your billet has been filled by now. As for Europe there are no guarantees I found Europe some what boring but to each there own. All you can do is apply for a European billet. You may be eligible for shore duty but don't know for sure. I doubt you'll be sent to japan again for a while. More likely you'll be state side. Then god knows where.

If your seperation was under honorable conditions, the navy will welcome you back with open arms and probably at the rank you had when you left. Heck, there might even be some shipping over money in it for you, but I'm only speculating on that issue.
New duty will be no problem either. As big as the US navy is, the chances of you getting the duty you left, are slim to none, however, they will honor your request for a change.
For everyone like you, that helps keep the idea of a draft even further out of reach.
The European request should not be a problem either, they need sailors on all sides of the world ! Good luck!

Re enlist and want guaranteed posting to Europe? Are you sure about that? You'll be on a ship somewhere near the gulf.
If you want travel and excitement in Europe why don't you try to become a holiday rep.
If you go back in the military, you know you don't get to choose peace instead of war. If you want to choose peace over war, the military is the wrong place for you and you'd be joining up for the wrong reason. Have a good long think first.

well u asking too much, u know is up up to navy even let u in, what's u rank? rank matter alot this days. they can promise u one thing and no another, they might promse to keep u rank but might not promise let u station in europe 2 days, u last duty is japan mostly likely in most cased will be station in U.S. thats the rule. also is consider a west coast command, which europe is eastcoats another word u might not never station there, but really depend u job? that'st he factor, but i doubt they let u station oversea again. cause usualyl is 2to3max staion oversea. and u do u got a honor discharge right?

Sir I would hope that a veteran who reenlists would get some consideration as to his assignment and local, especially ,since we are short right now. Thank You for your continuing service to our country, good luck!

Go to a U.S. Navy recruiter and discuss it with him. These things change all time. You may even be able to work out a deal for shore duty or shipboard...whichever you want. Might even get a bonus when you re-enlist. Pops

reenlist for orders. tell your recriuter you want to be in europe, i'm pretty sure they can hook you up, since you've already been in the system.

recruiters have tremendous bargaining power when it comes to placement in the military. as long as you bully them to put it in the contract and you verify that its in the contract BEFORE signing it it can happen
