Law Enforcement & Police - December 2007

I was driving home at night and noticed I was being followed. The car would come up right behind me, fall back to where I couldn't see the headlights anymore, and speed up to be right on my ass again. This is a country road with some areas of good curves and plenty of turns. I was followed for about six miles and was starting to get really scared. So I went through a stop sign at a four way (in the country-deserted all the time). The car was nowhere in sight. Half a mile later there it is again with red and blue light flashing, and I get a ticket-but only for admitting to it (stupid!) when he asked if I knew why he stopped me. He claimed I also went through another stop sign in town (did not) and that I was speeding---four miles ago!!!. He comes back and gives me a ticket for the one thing I admitted to-that he didn't see. Do I have a good chance of getting out of this one? If he hadn't been following me in such a scary way I would have been fine.

Is it possible to be restricted within a certain location without imposing on a person's constitutional rights? And for a family matter? I could see restrictions on security risks or something like that but for things dealing with family court? Is it true?

Okay, this is freaking me out. I'm twelve years old, and I live really close to my middle school so I walk home every day. About 3 days ago, this guy was following me. I was walking on one side of the road, he was on the other. I couldn't see his face at all- he had on this hoody that covered his head, like, completely. When I slowed down, he did too. When I walked fast, so did he. He could have been a student at my middle school too, only he wasn't wearing a backpack...or carrying a binder or anything. This is really creeping me out. He followed me home again today. Followed me all the way home. At the end of the road where I live, it's a dead end. But he walked over there anyway, so now he knows where I live! This is so freaky, what should I do?

Ok so last night my husband mentioned to me that for the last week every time he pulls up from work there is a white chevy Malibu parked across the street with there lights on shining straight at out house. When he pulls up he say that they turn off there lights and drive away a few minutes later. I didnt think much of it until I looked out the window tonight an low an behold its parked there again with its headlights pointed staight at our house. I'm trying not to be super paranoid but its crepping me out!!! My husband works LONG LATE hours and I'm at home alone with our 2 young kids. Am I making to much out of this? I know its not the police watching us because we are law abiding people who dont do drug, dont deal drugs, etc...LOL really though its no laughing matter I dont know what to do. I dont think I can call the police because nothing has technically happened but its still very creepy. What should I do.

Ok, I live here in Ohio. I had some renters and we had to evict them. They left a awful mess. Well they turned in the keys. Two days later they went back up to the house and busted all of the windows out. Is their anyway I can get them for Vandalism or Criminal Damaging? The people are known for this type of stuff. They have records a mile long.

I do think that jail isn't what it should be. I mean these people adults and kids...do something wrong...and then they get shelter, warmth, food, something to drink, clothing. That isn't punishment!! And the taxpayers have to pay for this crap?! Bunch of nonsense!!

I was in a car accident and taken to the hospital.I never received any tickets. The police drove me home hours after I was released from the hospital because I had no way to get home.Five days later a police officer is calling my home telling me to come into the police station to pick up some tickets or a warrant will be issued for my arrest.Isn't that against some kind of law or harrassment?

I know police officers who tell me they have seen a transformation occurr when women join the ranks of a former all men profession. They tell me many come already with a mascaline bent but many beautiful women undergo a physical change in appearance.

I am hoping someone can help me with this question, first off yes it is homework and the only reason I am asking for help is because I have drawn a blank. My textbook is no help I went over the last five chapters and even skipped ahead and I found nothing that could help me.
Here is the assignment

What conflicts do you see between the formal law enforcement code of ethics and the police subculture or “Cop Code”?

What ethical problems might these conflicts create?

How are these two different ethical codes tied to public perceptions of the role of law enforcement?

I live in a small town so we don't really ever hear about cop code ethics or misconduct.

Any help you can offer would be great. I am not asking anyone to do the work for me; I am just asking to be pointed in the right direction.

Thank you all so much. My paper is due today and all 3 of my babies are sick making it even harder to focus and find the track I need to be on.

Again thanks for your help

Here is the situation. My husband and I were on our way home one day in September. We were driving in a 55 MPH zone when my husband noticed a state trooper parked on the side of the highway. My husband let me know and I told him that I had nothing to worry about because my speedometer read 56. We then continued up the road when we saw a car fly past us(really fast). Next thing I saw(looking out of my side view mirror) the officer began to make his way into traffic. I was already in the right lane with a car in front of me and a car behind me( we were all moving with the flow of traffic). Next thing I know, he gets behind me and puts his lights on. I pull over without hesitating. He comes to my window and in a very rude voice asks for my license and registration. I ask him what I am being pulled for and he says going 76 in a 55. I immediately out of shock say"what"? He refused to listen to me. I told him that I looked at the speedometer and was not speeding..........

I read in the newspaper of a person who escaped from prison 30 or 40 years ago and when caught after that time he was sent back to prison. He was serving time for fraud. While on the lam he lived a clean life. What is the statute of limitations?

Why would police officers ask for social security number? Do they want to spy? Do they want to get a background check on you? Please let me know.
