Ohio. Im not sure how fast ethier would respond. My boyfriends brother home is full of crack heads. These is 5 kids, under the age of 10. A few extra adults too. The adults all smoke crack. Im not too sure of where and how....If they hide it fomr the kids or not. But they recieved some money, and smoked up one grand in not even a day. The "man" of house sometimes work, payday is a crack night also. DO I call police and explain to them...And maybe they can catch them in the act. Do I call child services, and hope they show up on a day they need to.....Child services have been called on them before, and they seem not to check too much cuz they have had cases closed on them. But I totally want to remain annoymosly. (sp)....

My 2 daughter's were threatened yesterday by a man in his early twenties. It was because I HAD to go to court as a witness because I saw him assualt my next door neighbour with a broom handle. He had a 8 month prison sentance. He called my 7 year old a little C---. Also told her that he was going to beat her mother up (Me).

He threatened to hit my 13 year old, she is very timid and only the size of a 8 year old. He also said that after he hit her he would do the same to her dad.

I am no longer under witness protection. I phoned and reported it to the police last night at 6.30pm. They haven't been out yet or even returned my calls, I have phoned 3 times. Would I be in my rights to complain about this? My children are scared out of their witts.

I didn't have ab choice about going to Court and it's not my children's fault.

No. If a cop asks your permission to search you or your property, you are under no obligation to consent to his/her request.
The only reason why the officer is even asking is because they don’t have enough evidence to search without your consent.
If you consent to a search request you give up one of the most important constitutional rights you have , your Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.
Some people may say " hey what the heck I have nothing to hide go ahead and search" That is their right and it is just as important as anyone elses right to deny the unreasonable rummaging through their personal property or even their very person.
How many people have heard the saying
'Use it or lose it'?
Does this apply to your constitutional rights?
I think so.
Refusing to allow a law enforcement officer to search you or your property does not give them probable cause to do so!
Refuse to be bullied.

We have all heard of and maybe even been apart of the random D.U.I. checkpoints or license checks while driving.
So is it legal for a cop or cops to do a drug check point?

It seems from the news that the police/authorities were aware or had awareness of the suspects of the latest attacks but were not able to do more than monitor them before they committed the crime. Should the authorities have more power?

I'm not an apologist for pedophiles, but I was wondering about the legality of the show. Isn't it entrapment that these guys get snared up in? Are they charged as sex offenders, or do they get off with a misdemeanor or something? What are they charged with anyway? They always say the cases are "pending," not that anyone was convicted, except those with prior offenses. What crimes are they actually charged with and at what point did they commit the crime? I heard one of the cops say on the show that the crime was committed when they stepped out of their house.

And just one observation...what does this show say about our society? Is it worse that there are people who would do such things, or that the so many people watch the show?

Why do so many of the police haters find it irresistible to stay out of the Law Enforcement section of YA? I mean why put yourself through the torment of posting an answer, knowing you are going to be getting a lot of thumbs down. This section has it's haters, but the majority are pro police.

I would name some of them off, but that would be a violation and get this question removed, besides the regulars know who you are anyway.

about it long and hard before I took action. I called crimestoppers and I called the local tv station. I am now in the middle and scared because I don't think the police can protect me. the tv station called the chief of police and a leiutentant is currently calling me, I have given him all the info I can but today my b/f and i got into an argument over the situation next door and I told him the police were watching the house and going to bust them, he called the guy that is in charge over there and met him at the store and told him that they were being watched. Now I will look like an idiot, i have seen them turn 6-7 away since he talked to him. I am so dumb for being honest, I just hate myself at this moment. I have always been honest and it just seems to bite me in the *** every day. He says I am stupid because I will not lie. what is the consensus?

I have received some very constructive answers, and a few questions that have asked why I (a) admit no apparent reason for this raid and (b) who this stalker is. In answer to (a) I have never been a drug dealer/user/associate of drug dealers/users and have had info from police that they did 'not do their homework' in cross-referencing their information in relation to reports of drug-dealing/possession at my home (ie, there was none whatsoever) with reports of my harassment by that of my stalker; nor did they observe my home for evidence of drug-dealing/taking activity; and (b) my stalker is the ex-husband of my older sister, with whom I've never had a sexual or romantic relationship. Therefore, pls do not make the judgement that it is all in relation to compensation - it's to do with the fact that I feel aggrieved that the word of a criminal can be taken above mine without any real, proper or substantiated evidence, merely that he can make a few malicious phone calls. Pls advise.
