Does anyone have any websites where I can apply. I don't have time to really go into anywhere to ask questions and do anything. Is there a way to apply online? Or how does it work? I'm 18 & I live in Florida and I'm a female.

In Florida you have to be 21 to get a concealed carry permit. But you have to go to a gun shop or a gun show (Tallahassee this weekend) to purchase gun and you will have to do a background check. There is no waiting period in Florida. You don't need a conceal permit unless you intend to carry in your purse or on your body.

You're 18 so don't bother trying to get a handgun. You'll have to wait until you are 21 for that.

If you want something to keep at home head over to your local gun store...or even better stop by WalMart. Take your driver's license or photo ID with you, and be ready to fill out a form when you buy the firearm.

If you've never shot a gun before you might want to start off with something simple and easy, like a .22LR semi-automatic carbine. It will shoot once every time you pull the trigger until you run out of ammunition. Get one that takes detachable magazines so reloading isn't such a chore.

Ruger makes a very nice magazine fed model called the Ruger 10/22. It's inexpensive, not extremely loud, and ammunition is cheap and easily available. Any similar type of rifle will do for starters, just be sure to practice with it and get a couple of extra magazines to go with it.

If they sell sights, get one that you look through the sight to see a red dot while looking at your target. They are usually cheaper than a laser sight and work almost as well, as long as you remember to use the sights. Several companies make such sighting systems, and they clamp onto the top of your new gun.

Once you get used to shooting you can decide whether to get yourself a shotgun or a larger caliber rifle. By the time you can buy a pistol you should have a pretty good idea of how much recoil and noise you are comfortable with, and make your purchase accordingly.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Most gun folks are willing to lend a hand and want to welcome new shooters. Good luck.
