Can police search a car when suspects flee from it? Do they have probable cause? I am confused if they can use that evidence in the car.

I work at a gas station and something happened about an hour ago. A lady came and pulled up to one of the pumps, and with gas being at $3.27 a gallon here in Arkansas, we have signs on the pumps that read "If We do not recognize you, YOU MUST PREPAY" . . . I did not recognize the lady when she pulled up to the furthest pump. Well, she got mad at me and pulled to the closest pump. Still, i did not turn on the pump. She came in and gave me her 10 dollars and i preset the gas pump for 10 dollars. Well, the pump messed up and stopped at $5.97. She told me to fix the pump, and i said that i couldn't unless she hung up the pump. Well, she got even more mad at me and told me to give her, the change which was $4.03. Well, as i was gettin her change, she started yelling and cussing at me, and i lost my temper, and i don't lose my temper often at all, but she pushed me to the limit. I kinda sorta tossed the money at her, and she said that i wouldn't have a job tomorrow. .......

Tonight i was pulled over for doing 60 miles per hour along a national speed limit road. These are country lanes with no residential access. I'm not too concerned as i didn't get a ticket or anything, but i am concerned that they are wasting time pulling people over when they should be pulling people over who are breaking the speed limit. They were friendly enough, asked me if this was my car. lol. Does anyone actually answer 'No, i've just stolen it????'

Anyway, i'd just like to know if the police can pull you over if they think your driving at an unsafe speed even though your not breaking the speed limit.

Cheers

Shay

*READ THIS* Cops say the only thing that keeps drug dealers in business are their profits. They say if drugs were controled by the government and distributed by the government for free or a fraction of what the dealers charge, the dealers would go out of business soon. Addicts are usually poor and they would take free drugs over paying $20 or so.

They say the war on drugs cost $69 BILLION every year and we are making no progress. If the war on drugs ended, we would have $69 billion every year that can go towards social problems like education and health care. Public schools recieve low funding because billions are being spent on the failed war on drugs.

Kids who stuggle in school look at drug dealing as an option if school doesn't work out. (But it's not the kids fault that the schools get low funding). If the government controled drugs and put the dealers out of business, the kids who struggle will not think of drug dealing as an option. Comments?

Now this seems excessive by anybody's standards and it doesn't prevent crime. The UK has socialogical problems but it also has serious criminal problems. At one point we out did the US for murder per capita which nobody believed. Our problems can't be cured by more cameras, that just allows for increased social monitoring. Criminals aren't put off by cameras, they know how to conceal their identity from them.

What's your feeling about the surveilance state in the UK? Or in your own country?

A moving violation occurred on a Friday against a minor (un licensed driver) and police called parent to notify a citation would be issued on Monday. Both charges the officer claims are weak ones. Isn't there a violation by the officer? He obviously thinks he identified the driver - how long does an officer have before issuing a citation?

ORLANDO, Fla. -- For the first time, an Orlando police officer is facing criminal charges for misusing a Taser gun.

An affidavit reveals the officer used the weapon to obtain a urine sample from a handcuffed suspect, WESH 2 News reported.

The information filed Monday charges Officer Peter Linnenkamp with misdemeanor battery, and prosecutors said some of the best evidence against Linnenkamp comes from his own report on the incident.
Linnenkamp is facing one criminal count of battery for using a Taser gun on Antonio Wheeler while he was handcuffed to a Florida Hospital gurney.

"Based on what we have as evidence, this was not a safety issue. This was a compliance issue to provide urine. So that rises to a level of a criminal act. In this case, it's a misdemeanor battery," said state attorney's spokesman Randy Means.

In his report on the March 5 incident, Linnenkamp admitted to shocking Wheeler with a Taser gun twice.

"Only minimum force necessary was used. This attempt was deemed necessary by the (medical) staff," Linnenkamp wrote in the report.

"There are times when people have medical problems that we have to make sure people get the treatment they need," said Lt. Brian Gilliam, of the Orlando Police Department.

Wheeler told police he had swallowed crack cocaine, so they took him to the hospital. But Means said concern over Wheeler's medical condition was not reason enough for the officer to use a Taser gun on a restrained suspect.

"This was not within the scope of his duty. The Taser is supposed to be for compliance, officer safety and public safety," Means said.

"He's a good officer, but we'll just have to wait and see if his judgment was poor that night," Gilliam said.

The charge carries a maximum of one year in prison, but due to the veteran officer's clean record, if convicted, he'll likely face diversion, a fine and perhaps some retraining.

He'll be notified by summons and won't have to be arrested or booked into jail.

The Orlando Police Department has one of the strictest Taser gun policies in Central Florida. Just last year, the policy was rewritten and now requires that the suspect be actively resisting arrest before a Taser gun can be used.

My family and I had been living with this family since November 2006, we moved out of that property on Sunday 1st April, 2007, the husband then called on the said date and accused me of being a thief of being dishonest some of the many names he called me. In reply I told him if this is my crime at least I had never murdered some one like he did. With that he threatened that he will have me assaulted either by him or pay some people he knows with drugs to carry out this crime. Despite telling him that I will report this threat to the Police, he continue with his threats. He repeated this to my wife and children when they went to collect our remaining items.
I am now concern for my the safety, being the fact that he, who is a Security Guard is a convicted murderer and he alleged that such assault had been carried out in the past on people who have dared to accuse him of being a murderer.
I had filed a police report but heard nothing yet. What do you suggest?

I was at a store the other day, buying something and when i had bought it I put it in my pocket and gave the guy at the counter my garbage. Then this lady walked up (an employee), and she accused me of stealing. The guy at the counter said she was wrong, and even though I had my receipt she grabbed my shopping bag and searched it quickly for "stolen goods". When she didn't find anything she said to the security guard that she should have searched my pockets. Should I put in a complaint to the RCMP or is she allowed to do that legally?
