You are locked in a 6 X 9 cell with one other person. You are told when to get up, when to eat, when to shower, when you can go out. All of your mail is searched and read, both incoming and outgoing.
If you manage to offend one of the other inmates, you run the risk of getting shanked. Inmates make "shanks," "shivs" or pointed objects out of anything, including toothbrushes, spoons, combs, etc. and they will take the blades out of their disposable razors and either attach them to a handle or just keep them to slash with. You will never know it is coming, they will walk right up to you like nothing is going on and just stab you over and over. Then there is the "Bubba" cliche`. Forced homosexuality is very common in prison, and inmates will rape new inmates as a form of initiation. Sex is often bartered for protection.
Those are just a few of the darker points of being in prison.

Depends on where you get sent. The jails all vary in terms of how much money they have. There are really crummy, old jails, and there are nice spanking clean new ones. But ALL jails have a lot of homo residents and a few homo staff. The homo stuff is a form of innitiation/humiliation.

The opposite of good. Your questions is far too difficult to answer here. You'd need to have a sit down, one-on-one with and ex-con.

it is like being behind steel bars for ever minute,,being scrutinized by everyone,,,you are constantly under someone`s watch,,,,,never completely alone,,,and it is so noisy,,you wish for a lil solitude,,,,you are put through so much bull........ you just wonder why you didn`t think before reacting to the crime you committed,,and it really drives you to the brink of crazy......

Lock yourself in a closet with someone twice your size for a week and then you'll know.

must be like a vacation. if it wasn't we would not have so many repeat offenders. think about it, why else would the repeaters keep going back in?
