no, it is a standard method of determining possible suspects. it is used every day in every police departments, We are all familar with FBI profiliers who are called in for major crimes,
It is the publics misconception of what it is, that is the problem, and of course some racial grouops that do not want thier race to be used when looking at various crimes

Not really, unless your willing to spend more and more billions of dollars a year to profile everyone. Statistics show clear lines on groups that commit certain crimes, and I cannot see how it would be best to look at everyone. For instance, when a wife goes missing, they always look at the husband first. Statistically, it is usually the husband that has a hand in it. If they are looking for drugs, they target poorer communities and minorities. Stats show that those with lower incomes are those most frequently in possession of drugs, and as an unfortunate side-effect poorer communities usually house minorities.
Profiling is simply smart, targeted policing that saves time and money.

It's not a problem for law enforcement...it's usually the answer. Unfortunately the problem lies with ignorant, uneducated people waving race cards. Just look at the numbers...who's committing the crimes and focus on them. This would make sense but let's look at the Transportation and Security Agency (TSA) who are the people who make you take off your shoes because one person attempted to use explosives in his shoes on an aircraft and it's TSA who now make you place your liquids in a quart size resealable bag because a group of middle eastern people were caught planning to use liquid explosives on aircraft. Once again...look at who is attacking us or who is trying to attack us and target them. If you have a problem with the word "profiling" use "targeting" instead.
Unfortunately, the people who cry and moan the most (mainly liberals) decide what we as a nation have to do and put up with...so now you get to take off your shoes and stand there with your liquids in a clear plastic bag as you wait to be screened like a suspect. If you think we are safer because we have to take off our shoes and place liquids in a bag, you are sadly mistaken.
If you're scared to face your enemy and those who intend to place us in harms way then get out of the way and let someone with courage and determination do it. Let law enforcement do their job. If you don't like addressing the issues and the people causing the problems then get out of the U.S. before you kill us all!!!

Its a problem, for one thing it can produce results up to a point...for example if airliner is high jacked by a group of persons with baseball caps, the authorities will be predisposed to look for, stop and question people with those characteristics first, which will help them locate some criminals but it becomes a problem when the authorities stop and question innocent citizens that happen to be wearing baseball caps.
