I don't think guns should be banned because then only criminals would have guns. But I think it should be harder to buy a gun. What can we do to make it harder?

Once when my dauther and I were in a drive-thru, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw a cop car. When I got to the window, I paid for my order and also for the police officer behind me. As we left, I saw the drive-thru worker pointing us out as we drove away. No words. Just a kind gesture for those who lay their lives down for us.

They have one of the most thankless jobs in America!!

Anytime a person visits a psychiatrist, that psychiatrist could be required to put that patient on a list that would ban gun shops from selling guns to the patient.

I do think that healthy people should be able to buy guns. Otherwise, criminals will be able to buy guns on the black market while good people would be disarmed.

PLEASE explain WHY we must have gun shops for the general public. WHY? I am looking for a REAL GOOD REASON. Protection?, come on! The 2nd amendment right to bear arms is ludicrous TODAY, maybe 200+ years ago but NOT today. Only law enforcement and certified security personnel need guns. Surely with gun control crazies would not conveniently buy guns, some would, many would be rejected or puzzled by the purchase process or street dealing.

target shooting? hunting? give em up like one has to give up a sport because of injury. I ruined my knee, had to give up basketball, baseball... but took up bike riding. life has disappointments. sure many crazies would find other ways but some would NOT. HOW freakin important is your obsolete civil war mentality and god damn need to shoot TARGETS!!! former NY'er I've been victim to 2 violent crimes, and I was on Bernie Goetz's side from the git. We do NOT need GUNS to protect ourselves from the govt. They stick it up our butts in ways guns cant.

The presence of assault weapons, and militarl type of weapons freely sold in the market and stores, actually expose our communities to unsafe environment to live, work or study. Gun control measures should include:
a) Age Limit to carry a gun
b) Type of Guns should be streamlized to hunting gun only.
c) Nationality carrying a gun in US should be limited to US born Citizen.
d) All public places including schools should be manned with police and security officers.
e) Adequate patrolling of police and security officers within the campuses, streets, Hospitals etc

We need more security measuresnow, since we now have more enemies within.

"Why did the police have to shoot him?" "Couldn't they have tasered him instead?" "Couldn't they have talked him out of the gun?" "Did the police plant the gun on him?" "Did the police shoot him because he was a minority?" "Why didn't the police shoot the gun out of his hand?" "Couldn't the police have shot him in the leg or something?" "How do we know he really did it? Isn't that something for a judge and jury to decide?"

I've heard these very same questions about OTHER shootings. Where are the idiots who asked them now?

Paul Whitters, 15, was shot in the head with a plastic bullet.
Following a four-year investigation, the police Ombudsman said the firing of the baton round was wrong and unjustifiable.

The police ombudsman said no warning was given and it was fired at less than the permissible range of 20 metres. The officer involved refused to speak to her investigators

Yes? Well then they should have no objection if we insist that in addition to criminal background checks, all gun purchasers and owners are also regularly assessed for mental instability and also to provide justification for wanting to own a weapon.

That'll leave the guns in the posession of the "good " gun owners that the rest of society can trust not to go misusing the guns, while the guns are taken away from dangerous individuals.

Or do the gun advocates have a better idea. (Giving everyone guns is not a better idea)

I am on a 3 year probation for a DWI(my first one). Originally it was supposed to be 2 years, but I got a one year extension for a failure to appear violation. I recently violated by having a dirty UA, and I only have about 4 months left to go. Tomorrow, I go before the judge. I have allready made an appointment for a rehab program, but it's not til next week. I realized there is a very good chance I will go to jail, but is it likely that the judge will let me do rehab in exchange for jail time? Also, is it possible they will just extend my probation again? What about house arrest?, I am very much needed at home cause I live with, and take care of, my grandparents. Allthough Im not sure if I can convince the judge to take that into consideration. Besides jail, what are some of the other possible outcomes??

There seems to be a myth circulating, at least i think it is such, that when we, when police or people working for the police independently, are undercover as in stings posing as prostitutes, dealers, etc that they have to identify themselves if asked if they are working for the police.
My understanding is that this is not so.? This would seem to destroy any effectiveness in undercover operations. For instance, if I become a police officer and pose as either a prostitute or a potential customer of one, all the john or prostitute has to do is ask if i work for the police and any potential case is lost.?
What if someone contacts someone who does sensual massage or prostitution to trade just massage consensually, but does not trade money or illegal substances for it, is that illegal? Being that it is only consensual massage, not turning sexuality into a financial commodity, it seems that this would still be legal in California, or could we prosecute someone for this?.
