If you have a warrant, they have already sent out notices to you to come in and make good on these or a warrant will be issued for your arrest, and they will arrest you. You will have to post a bond to get out, go to court, pay a lawyer, and still have to make good to the person you wrote the check too, and have a criminal record. So, call them, go in, pay up and hope all goes well.

In Texas, there are two statutes that they can use with regard to hot checks. One is a class C misdemeanor for passing a bad check.

The other, used more often now, is called theft by check. The crime is greater, the greater the amount invovlved. In either case, the person or company to whom the check was issued must first give you notice in writing and attempt to collect the check prior to sending it over for prosecution.

If you have an outstanding hot check, pay the company to whom you issued it and whatever fee they have attached, It will save you a lot of grief. Contact them to make good on it.
