No they won't come over. If the police coming over makes you uncomfortable remember to always step outside and close the door behind you when and/or if they come knocking. You do not have to let them in. As long as you do this, they have no excuse to enter your home.

They shouldn't come to your home unless they have more questions and usually then they will call. But wondering why your reporting a cable box that was stolen last year now...they might want to investigate it a litte more. I know that would be the first question I asked. If you knew it was stolen last year, why now are you reporting it? Even if they do come to your home, you don't have to let them in, you can just go outside and shut your door behind you. Unless they can see something in plain view for everyone to see, that is illegal, they have no right to enter your home.

Why don't you want them in your house? As a couple of people answered, no you don't have to let them in the door...but they also don't have to take your report if you are refusing to cooperate with their investigation(you are claiming that a crime was committed-probably burglary, depending on the circumstances).

No, but they might question why you are filing now for something that happened last year.

It will depend on if you have suspects or not. Here in my city any minor theft without suspect are taken over the phone.
