You need to factor in the size of the dog the terrain he or she is running on the weather the dog is running in any gear the dogs have on but I know one thing being in law enforcement the dog allways wins A humen runs what 5 to 10 mpg dogs go 15 to 20 do the math then there is the teeth factor once he locks onto you you are all done you just became his chew toy

Not sure.

Your best bet would be to either shoot the animal, or try to go places it can't negotiate very well; like up a ladder.

I remember being in Chicago once, walking down the street with a hot dog in one hand, and a drink in the other.
I didn't realize that the patrol car that I was walking by, had a canine in it. The dog lunged toward the car's half-open window, and started BARKING LIKE HELL. This startled me, and I dropped my hot dog. The public servant (police officer) sitting in the car thought it was just the funniest thing ever.

I was unable to see the humor in that particular situation.

I don't like police dogs, and I particularly loathe smart @ssed cops.

Further the any criminal ever can run. Fastest human, 22.36MPH, typical German Shepard, 39 MPH. You will get caught. Distance is not a factor in stamina with dogs.

My dog actually got ahold of the car he was chasing. Yep, for sure. He bit the tailpipe, but then he was totally exhausted.

For a long time I would guess thank God I've never been chased by one. They will run until they can't run anymore that's how loyal they are.
