Law Enforcement & Police - January 2007

I purchased a second-hand CD online. It is new, still in the plastic wrap, but there is a small hole punched through the upper left corner of the case. I have never seen this before, and I thought it was really weird. I don't know if it was on a hook and torn off, or what. Do you think it could be stolen? I don't want to open it until I know for sure.

While listening to the police scanner, I can't help wonder (as us P.I.'s do), what happens to the people who attempt suicide and are stopped by the police arriving? I hear on the scanner an ambulance called and they take the person to the hospital. Do they go to the psych ward after they are okayed by the ER? Do they have to stay there? Are charges filed against them? Do they check out ok and go home? Thanks for answering and satisfying my curiousity. Also, I live in IL and cannot figure out why people won't use their turn signals??KK#L%

if someone is being re-housed by the police because they have been getting trouble and serious death threats can that person tell them they don't wanna move? Surely they can't be forced to move out of the area if they don't want to? They wanted to move in the beginning, the police have been searchin for a suitable place for a month or so, is it possible to phone up and say they no longer want to go? The reason would be a very good job oportunity.

My friend once told me that he had a friend who was in the academy and one of the arrest techniques they taught him was to walk towards and step on the suspect's foot. When you step on that suspect's foot, their normal and usual reaction would be to push you off, which the police can then charge you with "assaulting a police officer". Or something to that effect, I forgot all the details but my question is: Does the academy teach you shady techniques such as these?

My friend OverDosed because Mr Plod arrested his usual supplier and the stuff we got from a different source was cut much less than usual. He could only afford enough for himself or I might have O/D ed too and no one would have been there to call an ambulance, we could have died. Surely addicts lives are more important than some poxy law.

What happens when the gun, gang or drug crimes are committed by illegals? Am I the only one confused? Do they not arrest them or arrest them, try them ,convict, have them serve the sentence then deport them?

Governor Deval Patrick said the shift would free troopers to focus on gun, gang and drug crimes.
He is rescinding a month-old policy imposed by his predecessor that allowed state troopers to arrest illegal immigrants.

"I think that strikes the right balance between our responsibility to assure public safety and our responsibility to respond to the concerns about illegal immigration," he said.

Under the new initiative, a dozen Correction Department employees will review the status of convicts and consider them for deportation.

Public Safety Secretary Kevin Burke estimated there are 700 illegal immigrants in state custody.

I just met this women and fell hard for her.She called from work yesturday and said she was sick and I said what was is wrong and she said that she was threatend by the managers gay boyfriend .He basically told her he would beat her up if she laid a finger on his boyfiend the manager.Well last night it was to late to call and talk to the manager but I callled him this morning and thinking about it all night I was angry by the time I got a hold of him and basically told him off and threatend to kick his butt if he didnt control his boyfriend.Well he acted as if he didnt even know what I was talking about. He said he wasnt even gay.Well I called and talked to my new girl friend come to fined out she made the hole thing up it never happend.So I ademediatly called and talked to the maneger again to apologish and tell that I had made abig mistake He would not have it he said he was going to call the police and have me arrested for threathening to kill 3 times never happed Am I in trouble

I was pulled over for driving with a suspended drivers license a couple weeks ago. I did get a ticket for driving with an expired inspection ticket and paid it late. The officer informed me that since I paid it late I will have to appear in court and face the judge. he seemed pretty cool about it, telling me that because it was suspended for paying an inspection ticket late that its not a big deal and the judge will likely charge me a fine and get me off the hook. I didn't know about the suspension..obviously if I had known i would have made alternate transportatioin arrangements and had my license fixed. Question is, what should I do?!?!?

i went to a party a couple of days ago. the cops came and everyone ran out. i didn't get caught but people who did got alcohol citations even though they passed the breathalyzer test with 0. the cops took the belongings left at the party, so i was wondering if they have any right to issue me a citation so long after the party if i go to the police station to pick up my stuff since they have no proof of anything. they might say that i was at the party and i ran, but isn't it not illegal to be at a party where there's alcohol and not drink? also this girl went to get her stuff but they wouldn't let her tell her story and issued her a citation and shes going to court.

We know that if you rob a bank you go to jail.it is illigal.
But if 100,000 or more people forms an human carpet around a bank and rob it,and if they say,"look,everybody robs a bank,what made to think it is illigal" besides,how you are going to arrest 100,000 people and put them to jail, so why don't you let us go?
How do you think our justice system will respond to this?
I know this an exagerated example, but my question is real.

Is ther someone who can contact me regarding teen rights against harassment by the police? My 14 year old son got off of the bus from school and was walking home when a police officer stopped him and frisked him with no just cause. Can the police do that? My son has never been in trouble before.

drive in a bus lane..... you'll get fined and points
park on a zig zag, on a quiet road at night.... fine and points

get accused of drunk driving...even half hour after getting home, the police are entitled to invade your home and breathalize you and arrest you...and it's up to you to prove that you werent drunk when you were driving even though it was half hour before

On the other hand..
get caught with £6,000 worth of drugs.... no charge
caught driving under the influence of drugs, the CPS wont prosecute
even the heroin junkie, who was caught driving under the influence wasnt charged didnt lose his licence until a later date when he was caught drunk driving.

is it any wonder, decent middle class driver feel that they are at more risk of being prosecuted than junkies and dealers?
