If you were speeding you either mail in your payment if thats allowed or you go to the courthouse and pay your fine to the clerk.
If you really dont believe you were speeding, call the number on the ticket, and say you would like a court appearance. you then go and can either try and plead not guilty, but you really have to have some strong evidence to get the ticket dropped..
Or you can speak with teh prosecuting attorney and say I havent had any tickets before. Maybe they will go for what is called a 'plea of abeyance' where you pay the fine but get no points on your driving record as long as you go a period ( usually 6-9 months) without getting any traffic violations.

Ask yourself this... did I cause an accident? Was there a victim of my actions (pedestrian, domestic animal, member of the press)? Did I cause any property loss or damage? If the answer to all those questions is no, then in fact there has been no crime. There is in fact a civil accusation lodged against you, to which you have every right to demand supporting evidence, and demand the presentation thereof to be delivered to you prior to being used against you at trial..
Plead NOT GUILTY, when the kangaroo court traffic judge finds you guilty demand an appeal. Then you will get REAL justice. Stop the biggest source of illegal revenue in the country today.. more collected now than the federal Income Tax…

If you are not guilty of speeding, then call the court at the number on your speeding ticket and request a trial date. Be sure and ask for a trial by jury if you choose to ask for a trial on your speeding ticket. In Texas, for example, if you are guilty of speeding, you could call the number on your speeding ticket and ask the court clerk to take defensive driving to get your ticket dismissed or ask the clerk for deferred adjudication of your speeding ticket.
If you ask for deferred adjudication of your ticket, the court can give you 180 or 90 days (typically )for the deferral of this ticket. What that means is if you get deferred adjudication of your speeding ticket, that if in 180 or 90 days ,whichever the court says your ticket is deferred for,if you do not get another moving violation ticket (speeding is a moving violation, not wearing a seat belt ticket is not a moving violation)then at the end of that time period the ticket will be dismissed. However, if you get another moving violation ticket (example, speeding ticket)within that 180 days or 90 days time frame the court gave you as deferral on your speeding ticket, then the deferred ticket immediately goes down as a guilty plea and it shows up on your driving history as such. If you ask for deferred adjudication, be aware you must be successful in not receiving another moving violation ticket during the time frame the court set for your deferral of the ticket or your deferral of the ticket will have all been for naught.
Defensive driving is a good option for this ticket because after you take it here in Texas, you can get a 10% discount on your car insurance for three years with proof of taking and completing this course successfully.

Go to court on your court day. If it is your first ticket, the D.A (District Attny) or one of his assistants will probably reduce the ticket to a minor offense, or maybe even offer you probation. It will definitely be worth your time, and you can watch how the court system really works instead of the way it is portrayed on TV. Don't be afraid to go, the worst that can happen is that they won't give you a break. But I bet they will.

Plead not guilty to the citation and when you go in ask for leniency. If you are worried about the points tell the judge, he/she might reduce it to the level where you only pay the fine and have no points. Good luck.

Go to traffic school. This is a moving violation, and you don't want the points on your license. After so many points they take your license away. Driving school also lowers the fine.

Pay the fine and accept the responsibility. They'll also believe the cop who gave you the ticket than you.

Pay it and don't speed. If you have the option to go to traffic school to keep it off your record, do that so your insurance rates don't go WAY up.
Remember,
Speed kills.
