My husband and I are watching an episode of CSI, and it has an underlying theme of polygamy. We were wondering, just for curiosoty sake, why is this practice illigall? We're not interested in the religious answers, just the legal view please.

Question on a recent criminal law final, just curious as to the correct answer:

If the defendant goes into a store and puts articles of clothing under his coat and attempts to leave the store, and the security chases after him out of the store. If the defendant pulls out a gun and when the security guard stops he manages to run away, it that robbery?

I said yes, because although the underlying crime was retail theft, the use of force with a weapon bumps it to armed robbery. Is it not because there wasn't intent? Thoughts?

I heard this news over the radio a man parked his car and slept in it. An officer walk over questioned him, the man answered he trying to sleep over the drunkness, i guess he went to a bar before that. Then the officer spot some open bottles and ask him to stand out. Is that illegal? To have open bottle but not driving the car.

My significant other was with my son in JC Pennys the other day when my boy fell into a cabinet and got a cut right next to his eye, less than a quarter inch from it.

Now, the cabinet is supposed to have glass in the front, but they removed it so that customers may have easy access to the jewelery. The cabinet has mirrors and selves that make it look like theres glass, but its missing. It took me a minute to find the cabinet.

What gets me is that my child isnt the first kid to be hurt by this display and my main argument. An employee told me about another boy hitting his head on the flourescent lighting inside and cutting his head and shattering the bulbs. The glass selves are not tempered glass, which seems to be real dangerous because I know windows on doors and coffee tables have to be tempered by law.

Any advice would help, also if so what could I seek in damages? If I were to sue and win, could I set it up to where my ex and I cant touch the money, that it be held for him?

I read two questions from people today that got me all worked up. One was do you think killers should be prosecuted? And this killer was protected when he tried to commit suicide. Second question was should abortion be illegal?
Then I read something about Hilary Clinton, and that just pushed me enough to write this.
When I see my children I couldn't imagine doing nothing but the best for them. It's my second nature to want that for them. I think any good parent feels this way!!!!????
God said murder is a sin, stealing is a sin and not obeying Him was a sin.
How could 'a group' of people get all worked up with a child missing, or got kidnapped and then killed. And think it's ok that abortion should be legal?
Has anyone that thinks abortion is ok to freely get as they please because, they are not responsible. Free choices begin before you decide to have sex. You have the choice to put a pill between your legs and not have sex. Or chose to chance getting pregnant?

And other Americans? It sure seams that way. I know the law of man in our country every man for himself, but when people team up to destroy other people in the country isn't it an act of war and treason? If there is anyone who is trying to do this then who are they, and why do they do it? Not illegals, or races even though I'm not excluding them, but a certain PEOPLE is against everyone else, who are they?

I work for a large retail pharmacy. I have a pharmacist that constantly talks bad about me to my fellow co-workers. She is nice to my face. I confronted her and she just tried to back peddle her way out of it. I asked my boss, who is hers as well, to please talk with her about it and ask her to please stop gossiping about me. My boss is not good with confrontation and i'm not sure that he will or has done this. The biggest problem i have is that she talks about me to other employees and i feel that since she is a management position that this is not right. I have had personal problems in my life recently and this is what she chooses to talk about and seemingly judge me for. I am a great employee....i have been with this company for 10 years......i work hard....stay late...and am at the top of my game. Even she can't deny that. I am also a union employee. I wanted to get some input from un-biast people on what I should do? A lawyer told me that this was a hostile work place?

Recently, me and a friend went into a business of selling polo shirts online. But before we sold, we had to be supplied (obviously). So my friend found a man who lives in China who supplied those kinds of materials for a living.
When we got them, we knew that they might not be 100% authentic because of the price we bought them for (they were a brand name). But regardless, we started selling them via eBay. My friend had his own listings and I had my own. We didn't sell them as "authentic" but never mentioned that they were replicas (unless someone asked).
I managed to sell only about 10/50 while my friend had already sold over 50. Then my pal was approached my police and his shirts were taken away for some reason. I managed to give a refund to all my buyers in order to stay out of any legal trouble.

So I was wondering what was done wrong that got my friend into legal trouble and what will be to come with the situation. Did I do the right thing and is there a way to get my money back?

If you have seen the latest news article about Paris Hilton, her quotes sound like excerpts from a "law for dummies" book. The nuiances of what she says sounds like an educated and sane person, not the normal Paris we are used to everyday.
I think she is worried about herself going to jail and if she shows a bit of regret and remorse, she may get a lighter "mercy" sentence. However, I think it is a bit too late, what do you think?

A friend of mine was visiting his cousin at his cousins house. He was just hanging out there.Later that day,a guy comes to his cousins house and starts trouble and pulls a gun on his cousin. The cousin goes and gets his gun and holds it in his hand while the other guy was outside. The guy that doesn't live there calls the police on the guy that does live there. He tells them he has a gun.The police shows up at my friends cousins house and wants to search. He tells them no.They go get a search warrant to search for the gun.Supposedly an AK-47. They detain my friend and his cousin and cuff them and put them in the police car while they search. They did not find the gun but searched a purse that was in his cousins room which belonged to his cousins girlfriend. She was at work at the time. The cops put the charge on my friend and his cousin.Possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana. My friend has never been in trouble before.
