maybe, there are guidelines, the employer actually has to sign for you to recieve unemployment, and i think it has to be a valid job with a tax ID number, no under the counter work for cash. im really sorry you are losing your job, i had problems at work not to long ago and i know how stressful it is. keep your chin up. good luck

Perhaps you should consider going back to school and getting a better education to further your employment opportunities because your spelling of tomorrow and genius is off. I hope that when you do your resume and apply for a new job you will be more careful.

You can apply in most states depending upon the reasons you were fired, if the job was legitimate meaning you were not a contracted or under the table employee, etc.

Do not tell the husband he is an idiot as someone suggested as you may need them for a reference for future employment when your prospective employer calls to verify your employment history. Don't burn any bridges.

You never know this may be a blessing is disguise as you may find better employment.

In most cases, yes. Laid off -shortage of work - incapable of doing the task(or fired). That is not your fault(however it depends on the reason put forward as to why you got fired. If you put yourself out there to get fired deliberately, then things could get dicey.(Would be comparable to Quitting)
However, with all that you need to have worked a sufficient period of time before you are elegible for unemployment. That varies from region to region. Check your local federal office for details.

You can get unemployment under these guidelines:

1. You must meet the State requirements for wages earned or time worked during an established (one year) period of time referred to as a "base period". (In most States, this is usually the first four out of the last five completed calendar quarters prior to the time that your claim is filed.)

2. You must be determined to be unemployed through no fault of your own (determined under State law), and meet other eligibility requirments of State law.

If they paid you on the books you can apply for unemployment from your state's department of labor (that's separate from your employer). If they paid you off the books I don't think you're eligible, but go to your state's department of labor website and look for links to applying for unemployment benefits, as I think each state has different laws.

I don't think severance pay is guaranteed - that's mostly for larger companies, I think, and what is agreed upon when you are hired. When I got laid off from a small company I didn't get anything.

Hope you don't get fired!

Well that depends on your state laws. IF you do get fired ask for some severance pay until you get another job. Then call your state's department of labor or unemployment division and find out what is required to file for benefits.

It varies from state to state, but generally, yes, if you are fired you can collect unemployment. Some states allow you to collect unemployment if you are forced to quit under extreme circumstances.

Depends on how long you've been working there. Check with your state's unemployment department.

I don't think you have any room to call anyone an idiot when you can't spell genius. Maybe there's a good reason you are getting fired. I mean how dumb can you be when you can't even use the spell checker.

It's "tomorrow". I think you get unemployment if they own a legitimate business, with a payroll.
