I get my income from a job that i had to pee in a cup for. shouldn't they have to do the same to get their income?
I hear stories of people selling food stamps, letting dealers hold their visa debit card that gets charged monthly by our tax dollars so they can get high.

Viktor Frankl once wrote that "freedom is in danger of degenerating into mere arbitrariness unless it is lived in terms of responsibleness". Gandhi used the term "swaraj", meaning self-rule, to describe the moral strength and integrity to live without the need to be supervised or policed; but he felt that Western "freedom" never amounted to true self-rule. Is Western society going in the right direction towards true responsibility and autonomy? Is it even possible for a society to get there?

I bought a bit of jewellry from a shop almost 2 months ago but asked the shop to hold it til May (gift for woman, didn't want her finding it). I paid by VISA. Since then I've had a change of heart (seen something better elsewhere). Considering its not even been out the door of teh shop, is still tagged etc, can I get a refund? The shop is telling me all they can do is exchange it for something else if I don;t want it....

Any ideas?

In 1947 when our country got independance, at that time I agree the condition of SC/ST and other backward caste people was worst and they required help to raised off.
So Gandhi ji had given reservation in Goverment jobs and other sector for 5yrs which was extended to 10yrs after completion and still there.
Now situation is that General category does get admission in Engineering or Medical Colleges or Goverment jobs due to shortage of seats or vaccancies.
What I feel that whether a person from any caste according to the caliber and capability jobs and adminssion to the colleges should takes place as only they are only going to brings the india up.
For example a student got admission in medical due to SC/ST qouta but not deserve to get adminssion. Becomes doctor after 2 or 3 attempts and not able to operate the patient properly
I want to know what is the use of such doctors or engineer in india

Should I take him seriously?? I said joking about it isn't funny; however, he said he wasn't joking and that he wasn't going to be alone. He continued with saying that he'll be the next Virginia Tech shooter. These threats scared me and I wondered if I should report him because it's either him or our lives. What do I do and who should I go to for help!!?!?

I just got a new job working at a gas station and on my first day of training I found out I wasnt getting paid while doing the normal work while training. Tomorrow will be my fourth day and I am still not getting paid. He said he will pay me when he feels I am ready to work alone which I feel confident that I am. Is this wrong? Is it illegal not to pay for training like this?

Yesterday was Mother's Day as you all know. I work at a restaurant. We got slammed with business unmercifully. I clocked in at 9 a.m. yesterday morning, and did not clock out until 9 p.m. last night. Our store manager did not only not give ME a break, but NO ONE got a break all day long. Oh well excuse me, I got two 5 minute breaks to go smoke a cigarette. But I had to sneak out to do that. To top it off, the jerk left at 6 pm, leaving the rest of us there! I know that last part isn't illegal, just him being the jerk he is. The law states that if we work at least 8 hours, our place of employment is required to give us at least a 30 minute break. The law was broke at the restaurant with at least 20 people yesterday. What can or should I do, if anything? Is that law not in effect somehow if a place of business gets unexpectedly overwhelmed like that? PS- I already quit, and I do have evidence that I did not get a break.

What is the citizen status of American Indians? They are not controlled by the individual states or local governments, they can vote, but it seems they have a special status through federal treaties. If this is so, how could they get punished for any non federal crime. My high school son is having a debate in class...it concerns a ficticious Indian who is expelled from a state college for smoking pot. I understand that they can use peyote off reservation (federal supreme cout ruling)...My position is that the college would be discriminating against the religion of a federally recognized group...any thoughts?

Reminder, he has never been in ANY trouble with the law what so ever. I think he is being railroaded into helping them and he just does not know any better because he has never had to deal with the law before. Please help if you have any answers
