I get my income from a job that i had to pee in a cup for. shouldn't they have to do the same to get their income?
I hear stories of people selling food stamps, letting dealers hold their visa debit card that gets charged monthly by our tax dollars so they can get high.

Souds like a good idea to me. And not only before but periodically as well. But I figure so group will start yelling discrimination against poor people. Seems like somebody is always claiming that.

While I support the concept in principle, evidence has shown that in practice, it is not useful, and so I don't think it should be required. A few jurisdictions, such as Florida, tried doing this. It was found to be ineffective and costly, and didn't achieve much. The problem is that most drugs do not remain in the body for very long, so it requires very regular testing to catch offenders out. This usually costs more than we save by terminating the welfare for the few offenders who are caught out (which is why most of the jurisdictions that trialed it did not implement it after the trial). There are a few situations as well where the system could be applied in a way that might not be strictly fair. For instance, pretty much everyone would agree that a welfare recipient who wastes all their payments on drugs is abusing the system. However, suppose, say, a medical student receiving student benefits tries marijuana one time at a party, never using it again, and just happens to get caught out, and has to drop out. Is that truly a fair punishment- and even if it is, does it really benefit society to get rid of a potential doctor? While that could be debated either way, I wouldn't say the ethics of that situation are as clear-cut. So based on the evidence that it doesn't effectively achieve the aim it sets out to, plus the possibility that it could be mis-applied, I'd say that this policy should not be used.

No. Not all jobs require drug test. I would not agree to it. That problem is being fixed with the new type debit cards. You have make nearly nothing to get food stamps. Technically, the do take a drug test when apply for Medicaid. You want more homeless on the street? At least the kids have a home. The food stamp card in not a Visa or MasterCard debit card.

YES! They should have random drug testing, just like most jobs do.
There is no reason they should be getting drunk or high on tax payers dollars.
There should be limits on what can be bought with foodstamps, it pisses me off when I am shopping with barely enough money to feed the family for the week and I see someone with a cart full of soda, chips, candy etc. pay with food stamps!! Sure we would like to have to that too, but carrots last longer than little debbie snack cakes!
There are some people who are actually using welfare like it should be used.. to get ahead. If someone is on welfare they should be made to look for and hold a job, get some education not just sit on their butts waiting for someone else to pay their way!

Yes they absolutely should. And they should be more strict as to who can live with people receiving any kind of public support as well. I have heard one too many stories of a woman with kids collecting welfare and food stamps and even getting free housing, just to have her crack dealer boyfriend and a few of his friends living there "under the radar." This is total BS. Why are we rewarding people for this while couples who try to work hard at their jobs and get married can't even afford to buy a house let alone have kids?

Yes! They should have to take a drug test once a month randomly and if they fail it they do not get their benefits we pay for. I get so pissed when I go to the store and see a mother dressed to kill driving a hot car and her kids look like they have never had a bath, never been fed. Then she gets in her 300 dollar coach purse to dig out her food stamp card to pay for all the junk she is buying. I hate people like that. They don't want to work and want to be selfish and have everything for themselves and nothing for their kids. I confronted a woman in the store one day about it. She told me I have to look good to catch a man with a job! I was even more pissed! She then grabbed a candy bar and ate it in front of her kids who she nothing to! The system has more than just the drug flaw!

Hope you never find yourself in a position where u need assistance.
