I just got a new job working at a gas station and on my first day of training I found out I wasnt getting paid while doing the normal work while training. Tomorrow will be my fourth day and I am still not getting paid. He said he will pay me when he feels I am ready to work alone which I feel confident that I am. Is this wrong? Is it illegal not to pay for training like this?

Normally, persons under training should be paid at least 75 percent of the regular minimum wage in most countries. However, the mode of payment still depends on the country where you are and what are the existing labor laws.

Well. Depends on the State. In Missouri, you should be getting paid. In some cases they can stiff you money for training. But I think if you are actually working at the same time, they should be paying you.

Call your state's department of labor or similar agency.

Legally, it depends on what you agreed to before entering training. Legal issues aside, the guy is horribly unethical, and needs to be shown up publicly. Secretly contact your local newspaper, radio, and TV stations, and tell them what's going on, and ask them if they would like to cover your story.

You'll probably get fired, but you'll get a much better job offer from a legitimate business afterward, and you will expose a very ummmm...unethical business to the public, and probably ruin him in your community.

In Australia it is against the law, report him as you have four days pay coming, but did you sign any thing?
