My sister was charger with possession of a controlled substance. She's made a huge turnaroung between now and then, so she got off with only community service. However, my mom had to pay for a lawyer. How do they determine whether or not someone is financially able to afford a lawyer? I mean, she makes a fair amount, but most of it goes to our house. And what if my sister just wanted to represent herself? Apparently the government could fine my mom if she wouldn't pay for a lawyer or something stupid! This really doesn't seem fair or constitutional to me!!

In January of 2007 the Court of Appeals ruled that the lawsuit should be allowed to go forward.

The bill has not yet been passed but if it continues to go forward then witnesses taking an oath would not be required to take the oath using a Bible.

The new bill would allow the person taking the oath to place a hand "upon the Bible or any text sacred to the party's religious faith." However, the court would not be required to provide such texts, but it could accept donations. The bill goes on to say that if it is not appropriate to the person's faith then the person taking the oath is not required to say "so help me God."

Often the effects of psychiatric drugs are determined by comparisons with a placebo group. You may for example have a result that there were 40% responders to placebo and 50% responders to the drug.
You do seem to have a moral and ethical dilema here. For if you informed each user of a drug about the placebo effect , the percent responders may decrease.
Even though the placebo effect is so large compared to the combined effect you would never hear a doctor talk about this. On the other hand, you would hear a doctor talk about the active substance in the drug and neurotransmitters.
The person is not correctly informed about the treatment he or she is recieving. And on the other hand, this information itself may decrease the benefit to the patient.

What is your opinion?
Is the health of the patient more important than informed information?

What I'm suggesting is you trade your 40 hour labor work week for food and medical care. Don't take the luxuries into account, that is a whole different animal. Just putting in your fair share to get a fair share knowing all of your "needs" will be taken care of. I've been stewing on this for some time now and honestly think it will work if it's done right. The key to making it work is to not allow the ones making the calls now to establish the principal decisions to get it off the ground.

A crime scene provides clues to who did the act, but eventually, most crimes are solved by determining who could have done it, and who would have benefitted by the act.

Could the Feds have placed demolition materials in the summer leading up to the collapse?

Was instituting the Patriot Act their motive?

If they did it, what else do they have in store for us, using technology and a keen understanding of mind sciences and social psychology?

If another major event occurs, followed swiftly by the instituting of a vast pre-prepared body of laws...will you begin to wonder?

I was told that congress was passing 1022 awb that will make it illegal for ak47s to be shipped into the country but the ones already in the country were legal.

I asked this question already but wasnt clear, I know automatics are illegal (unless you register them), and i know ak47s are stripped and reasembled here. But all I really wanted to know is should I buy one know before the prices rise?

or if you can think of any good reasons why prostitution shouldnt be legalized.

so far i got....
-Shouldnt sell or harm your body
-Wouldn’t want your child to become or date someone who was with a whore
-Through Gods eye’s it is no different then murder and stealing.
-It wouldn’t cut down on rape because rape is about dominance over someone.

I was told that I had an STD and was given medication for the disease during a visit to the ER for complications with my pregnancy. When I later reviewed my medical records I saw that lab results for the disease I had been diagnosed with were negative. This mistake has caused a huge amount of turmoil in my family. Serious distrust developed between my partner and I to go as far as him doubting the paternity of our child and me questioning his faithfulness. I'd like to know if I have a case and if there are any good lawyers who can take my case.

My nieghbor wanted to build a fence, but he is inconsiderate, disrespectful, and a tight wad...so he waited until i and the owner of the house on the other side of him built privacy fences. After we paid $5,000 a piece having our fences built, he goes to lowes and buys fence panels and closes in the front and back now he has basically stole the sides of his two nieghbors' fences. I live in Gulf Co., Florida. Are there any laws that he may be breaking or anything i can do to him legally? My fence is on my property line, his fence isn't connected to mine, its like an inch from touching mine.
