What I'm suggesting is you trade your 40 hour labor work week for food and medical care. Don't take the luxuries into account, that is a whole different animal. Just putting in your fair share to get a fair share knowing all of your "needs" will be taken care of. I've been stewing on this for some time now and honestly think it will work if it's done right. The key to making it work is to not allow the ones making the calls now to establish the principal decisions to get it off the ground.

It may work in your own mind, which is FAR from reality.

If we only sought that which we needed, we'd be satisfied living a bestial lifestyle and shun the progress of technology and society wholesale.

We don't do that because it is human nature to want, and pursue, more. More for ourselves, more for our families, our friends, our nations. That is human nature, to elevate our existence.

Fair is a concept, not a reality. Adults, whose minds have not been scrambled on the psychological skillet of socialism, understand that life isn't fair and you are to use your best talents and wisdom to manage your affairs to your own benefit without harming that of others in the process.

Your suggestion is to engineer fairness by imposing it upon society with some managed mechanism.

Never has worked, never will. We're people, not rats in a maze. Thank you for playing.

the economy would be ruined.

money is the oil to the engine of our economy.

suppose my neighbor wants to sell his old car, and i want that car. but what if i don't have anything he wants, therefore i cannot barter for his car. i would have to figure out what he wants then find somebody who not only has it but also wants something i have.

that is the basic barter economy.

money allows me to buy anything i want.

This would probably turn out to be more problematic than you'd expect. It would be great if this could be pulled off and "done right". I just don't see how it would happen anytime soon.
