I went to a pawn shop and they said they were no longer being shipped into the U.S. and I was wondering if this would be a good investment to get one now.

Your gun shop clerk is trying to hard-sell you an AK. He wants to scare you into paying a premium price.
For now, AKs can be imported, are being imported, and are being sold to the public.

If you want one of these, you can print out the order form, take it to a reputable gun dealer, and they'll usually order it for you. You'll have to pay a small transaction fee--$50.00 is not unreasonable.

I believe they were banned under the Brady Bill in the 80's.

Thats funny. However, they've been illegal for a while now. You might want to try Afghanistan?? I heard they have plenty over there.

To slow they already did, however I believe you can still receive a kit or kits that do not include the receiver.
