Do you feel it is right to kill someone because they were convicted of a crime? What if the person claimed innocence until the day they were put to death? What if a mistake was made? I am for the death penalty if you know without a shadow of a doubt that the criminal is guilty. (Such as DNA proof or witnesses) But I think there needs to be extremely strong evidence that the person is guilty. What do you think?

Tobacco is a drug that causes us a lot of health problems in this country. Why not quit growing it and selling it on a large scale. And replace the fields with soybean. Then make fuel from that. Or grow corn, anything to help us break away from depending on energy from the Middle East.
Not to mention how many children would not start smoking in the first place.

Like what acts give it to them. For example, the patriot act, and that new one(don't know it's name) but they go around things like search and seizure and due process of law, right?

As much detail as possible will be appreciated.

On http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/11/8/30352.shtml?s=ic there is a story on Michigan’s recent vote to ban certain aspects of Affirmative Action. This ban will no longer allow the consideration of race or sex in the determination of eligibility for acceptance in colleges or government jobs.
Opponents of this ban worry that the passing of this would spread to other states and regress the progress made toward equality for minorities and women. Supporters believe that affirmative action was unfairly keeping some people from getting jobs and university admissions because minorities were being given an edge.
Can equality really be equality if it is the law to say that you have to enroll so many minorities or women in a university; or consider so many minorities or women for a job?

I think child support, in most cases, is BS. I am speaking as a mother of one and do not get child support. My sons father has him half the time and provides everything he needs when he is with him. My husband on the other hand has a son and the mother took him and moved away because he didn't want to be with her.My husband has ALWAYS taken care of his son.He gave her money voluntarily and still paid for stuff on the side for him. Now she filed child support and has been awarded $400 a month for one child! how rediculous is that. If child support is suppose to be fair then they are telling us it takes $800 a month to take care of this child? Thats BS! Unless your childhas special needs or is ill it does not take even 400 a month to take care of one child. She has no rent cause she lives with her dad and my husband paid for both cars she has. Why do they have these men solely paying for these kids? What is the mothers responsibility? What does she pay for?

A texas mother who killed her two babies was tried by jury and found not guilty by reason of insanity. The Texas Department of mental health has now declared her "cured" and released her. She spent 4 years in a hospital and now is totally free subject to monthly testing to make sure she continues her meds. Her babies are dead. She could have more children if she desires. Do you think justice has been served ???

I don't understand how you can argue for killing of an unborn child for the sake of a mothers choice, but argue against the killing of a convicted criminal.

The most common answer I have heard is that the criminal may be innocent of the crimes he/she has been convicted of and therefore not deserve the death penalty. But an un-born child has not had a chance to be anything but innocent. I have also heard that the death penalty is cruel an unusual punishment. But partial birth abortions are pretty horrific themselves. I don't understand the situational ethics.

Someone explain this to me.

I believe my ex is harassing me by sending letters with an attorney's contact information down the street from me. There is no letterhead on any of the letters and the envelope I receive the letters in are typed and cheap enough as if from a typewriter. The paper is cheap and of low quality, as is the various different fonts used throughout the letters. The signature looks exactly like my ex's handwriting also. The letters don 't look professional at all, and wouldn't there be letterhead or a company insignia somewhere? My attorney has it on his. Typing an attorney's name in bold and centering it at the top doesn't count for letterhead.
What's a sly way I can find out if he is impersonating an attorney? A friend said I could just call and ask the secretary if they always use letterhead when they send out letters. I would like to get a letter from their firm though somehow that has letterhead on it.

I work for a large warehouse chain and have found that I'm the one with the lowest wage in my department, yet only one with the real qualifications in my department. Other departments they have hired people that had my qualification and started them off at two dollars a hour more. I've talked to human resources, even the store manager. They say sorry, it had to be negotiated when I was hired. I was told I would have a review in three months, so I thought I would be able to get a better wage then when they saw I was a good worker and a expert in my field. I believe I was descriminated against because of age and sex, but can't prove it, is the reason of the lower wage. Is their anything I can do legally? It's a right to work state.
