My wife and i want to have our last named changed for privacy reasons. We are being bothered by an ex-family memeber, because they keep tracking us using our last name. By law, can we some how have our last name changed? And if so, how? Do we get to pick our new last name? Or, can we just changed our last name to my wife's maiden name? Does it cost money, and how much?

assassins, robbers, thieves, etc are using this for quick mobility, can get away thru the heaviest traffic jams with ease. Worst, they are hard to be identified since most used full covered helmets. Haha, just like the movie "catch me if you can". Let's think of ways to prevent this.

A body that was alive and was subject to the environment of culture and society committed a crime. Is the society also responsible to some extent for the evolution of the soul in that body? If so isn't it more productive to spend tax payers money in rehabilitating and creating environment so that he/she realises their fallacy of reasoning to commit a crime?

it started about 3 months ago. i recieved a letter from this company saying i owe money because they thought i had got finance out at a bank. i do not know nothing about this as i have a bad credit rating so i cannot get finance.anyway i dont have a job, and i told them this 3 months ago and i said i would see them in court as i have nothing to hide. i heard nothing for 3 months and then i get a letter today from them saying they will reduce settlement offer. it has freaked me out because i have heard this company are complete arseholes. they say they may take it to court and they could get attachment of earnings as i dont work that dont matter but they say they may get someone from the court to sieze my assets or a petition may be lodged for my bankruptcy(if applicable) what should i do, this company has been taken to trade and standards quite a few times and even the police have been involved in this company.

What do you people think of Indian Judicial system, we have so many courts, why are cases not heard, why are there so many under trails in custody.

I happen to visit a few courts randomly, I noticed one thing most comman, the judge does not want to proceed with the case in front of him / her, asks the lawyers of both sides, when next date is suitable for both sides, meaning layers.

The cases get dragged on and on for years and even then there is no proper justice.

It is only when a foreign national is concerened that you have fast track judgement, that is purely for tourism.

Your comments please.

So heres the deal. I am moving at the end of the month out-of-state and I have a minor bench warrant out for my arrest. I dont see any reason to waste a week or 2 in jail dealing with this warrant so Im trying to avoid it at all costs. If I go to jail right now I would probably lose my job, leaving yet another scar on my resume so turning myself in so I can spend my last few weeks here in jail is a no-go.

I lost my wallet last week and I have a paycheck I need to cash but I dont know if the DOL will call the police if I go get a state ID card.

What do you think?

I live in an apartment, and out downstairs neighbor smokes an estimated 3-5 pakcs a day, everyday. He has made an attempt to use air filtration within his unit, but it still seeps into ours everyday to the point where we are becoming ill from it. You can even taste it. The whole house smells of stale smoke and were non-smokers. The managment says its their right to smoke, and there is nothing that can be done about it. The manager I believe is a bit biased, as they smoke as well. I'm not sure how to approach this sitiuation, I feel there must be some kind of law or regulation to insist that I have an opportunity to not be forced out of my home because I'm sick from someone else's actions.

In Oct. of 2005 I was admitted into the hospital for stomach pain. The hospital said my fiance was allowed to stay with me as we were about 3 hours from home (on a business trip). There was a 72yr old man staying on the other side of the curtain. Anyways, one night the people from MRI came to get me at about 3:30 am for an MRI. I returned to the room to find my fiance in tears curled up on my bed. She told me the old man had groped her sleep. She woke up to him with his hands in her PJ's. I freaked out, screamed at the man, called the local PD and filed complaints with the hospital. We said we wanted to press charges and have NEVER heard from the PD since. I have called them and never got any return calls. The old man admitted to his wrong doing as well. The following day the hospital realease me and was VERY mean. the following month I had emergency surgery to fix what they missed. What can be done? The hospital admitted to knowing the old man was a perv, as he grabbed at nurses.

My landlady is the sole OWNER of the house, not her husband. The husband tells me he is not my landlord. Just curious. Since they are married, aren't they both the landlords? They've been married (her 2nd marriage) for approx. 15-20 yrs in case that matters.

I recently retained an attorney in march of this year from injuries recieved in an automobile accident. Since then I noticed certain things while being represented by this law firm, such things as using my social security # for a case number, giving the wrong date of the accident with ins., co. Being hung up on by the attorney's paralegal, and basically being disrespected. What should I do, or should I say what would you do?
