Lots of pro-illegal fanatics (and the illegals themselves) think it's just a matter of time before the US returns the Southwest to Mexico. After we beat Mexico in a war (two in texas) and payed them 15 millions dollars for it 150 years ago, what do you think the odds are the US will just *give it back*?

Hi, im a 23 years old college student, i came to this country illegally when i was 16 in october of 2000 because my dad was living here and he was diagnosed with terminal cancer i was waiting in mexico to get my permanent resident(green card) through my mom, but that was going to take a long time and i knew my dad was going to die and i wasnt going to see him so thats why i came here.
In december 21, 2000 Bill Clinton signed the 245(i) which allows persons to become permanent residents without leaving the U.S. if they were here on or before that date.
So my situation is that i was here since october of 2000 and i already had my interview and they gave 30 days to summit more evidence that i was here at that time.
I have an ATM receipt of a withdrawl that i did in California from my Bank Account in Mexico, and a letter from my church. Please give me some advise.
Would an sworn affidavit by a neighbor count?
would a letter from a Police Officer that i met at that time count?
thanks

If all the illegal immigrants came here legally, and spoke English when out in public. I am not an American Indian therefore I can not say this was my home first. My family came here and wanted to learn English many moons ago. I think more people would have more of an understanding on this issue if things went this way. I don't care who comes here, just please learn the language and come legally. That's all I ask. Does anyone else feel this way?

Do you want lower taxes, lower gas prices, lower health insurance? Do you want to collect social security? Do you want a higher standard of living?? Then deport all the illegal aliens in the country. This will make all of the things you want happen.

Here's my thought. Sometimes this whole immigration thing just frustrates me. The first time I came to this country was through a student visa, then I went back home after I graduated college. My parents had to pay about $1,200 more than the average student because I came from another country. I ended up coming back to the US through a HB1 visa stayed 4+ years. Then I hired an attorney to do all the paper work for me so I could become a US Resident.

What blows me away is how people can just come here and get all these services, for free. While my road to being a US Resident has be a costly one.

This does not only frustrate me but it also frustrates my co-works who are from Spain and Latin America. We came here with work visas had attorneys do the paper work for us. We are college educated but yet people with barely a 6th grade education get a free ride.

Talk about double standards!

These are the steps I believe the USA should take to resolve the immigration problem:

1. Pass an amnesty law that would give citizenship to most of the illegal immigrants already in the US. Some of the requirements could be:
-Know how to speak and write at least the basics of English
-Have at least a high school education in whatever country or be a current student in the United States.
-Know the history of the United States
-Have no criminal record in any country [[backround check]]

2. Deport all the leftover people that did not meet the requirements

3. SECURLEY close the border in a way that would not allow any more immigrants to come in at all.

RESULT- Only truly hardworking illegals will be in the US. Everyone in the USA would be happy. [[The immigrants will be citizens, and the people who were already citizens wouldn't have any more immigrants coming in the country to worry about.]] PROBLEM RESOLVED

I'm tired of hearing the word "assimilate". Why should anyone in the USA have to act like everyone else does?

Hi,
I live in Long Island, NY and want to change my name on my indian passport. I am on an H1 that expires sept 2008 (3 extensions left).
I understand that I need to advertize my change of name in 2 newspapers. I have done that in two indian newspapers, but need to do it in a local one.
How does one go about announcing a name change in a local LI newspaper?
My affidavit that was prepared in the bangalore high court does not have the standard text, but rather reads as, "I xyz, hereby change my name to abc, as of 1/1/2006 for purposes of blah blah." thats. it. Will this cause a problem?
Also, if anyone knows how to correctly fill out the application for passport for name change, do let me know. Things like which name goes where etc etc.
Thanks!!!

reason being the govenment seems to be putting the true people of this country at risk from these fanatics.i personally think that if you are at war with a country(rogue states)why would you let people from these countrys enter the uk and walk about are streets knowing they have come here to blow us up.i know that some are genuine immagrants but surely it makes sense to vet these people or just let women and children claim asylum instead.even where i live they are fighting each other now over just being a diffrent race,we dont need these sort of people its obvious to me and for those people who dont agree with me on this i say this to you.ive met your type before and deep down you know you dont like them so dont start telling me im a racist because im not ive got a colured television at home.thanks for reading il be looking forward to your views.

If you consider the new 700 mile fence and the new states anti illegal alien laws coming down, what would you think is a realistic number.
Our states are drowning in red ink , so will it be a year or as long as 5 years?

Currently at my job I must make copies of identification for application purposes. Where I work we dont "employ" these applicants we act as an employment agency for contractors. I see many obvious "fake" forms of identification, normally social security cards, and alien cards. What is my personal responsiblity when I see fake identification? What is the responsiblity of my employer to this problem? I feel my job would be jeopardized if I stood up and made an issue of this.

Los Angeles, San francisco, San Diego, Pasadena, Arizona, Colorado, Tejas, San Antonio, albuquerque, Los alamos, Nuevo Mexico, Las cruces, EL paso, santa barbara, santa monica, Fresno...

I mean are all these names are in English or Spanish? this means anglos got there, settled, spoke their language and refused to speak the local language? so why are you angry when Mexicans do the same. and ofcourse...the anglos settled Illegally there..Mexico did not grant permission for so many families to stay...and It was Mexican. so on what moral basis do you demand something that you didnt bother to do yourself as history shows?
