On the left hand side of the receipt letter you got from the ins regarding your N-400, there is a receipt number. It usually starts with three letters and then with some number.
you can track your case status by entering your recipt number here at uscis's offical website:
https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do
If you just recently filed your N-400 and have not receive anything from ins yet, you can check if they already cash your check yet. If they did, your recipt letter will be here pretty soon.

call Immmigration or your lawyer. It takes now upt 6 to 1 year for the citizenship because too much going on, in the security issue no. It took me 5 months, but each case is different
