Hi, im a 23 years old college student, i came to this country illegally when i was 16 in october of 2000 because my dad was living here and he was diagnosed with terminal cancer i was waiting in mexico to get my permanent resident(green card) through my mom, but that was going to take a long time and i knew my dad was going to die and i wasnt going to see him so thats why i came here.
In december 21, 2000 Bill Clinton signed the 245(i) which allows persons to become permanent residents without leaving the U.S. if they were here on or before that date.
So my situation is that i was here since october of 2000 and i already had my interview and they gave 30 days to summit more evidence that i was here at that time.
I have an ATM receipt of a withdrawl that i did in California from my Bank Account in Mexico, and a letter from my church. Please give me some advise.
Would an sworn affidavit by a neighbor count?
would a letter from a Police Officer that i met at that time count?
thanks

thanks for your comments, regarding the school record i got here in october and didn't attend school until the next year, during that period of time october- december 2000 i was a minor didn't work, so thats why its hard to get evidence.
for all the 7 years that i've live here i never got in trouble with the law, was an A student in High School, trying to do the same in college, never used drugs in my life other than prenscription drugs when i get sick, have a manager position at my current job, im the first one in my family to go to college, my only traffic ticket was last month and it was a seat belt ticket, and for the people that are here just talking **** and dont believe that my dad passed away(i have the dead certificate), hopelly you never lose someone to cancer i wish nobody that.

If you have school records that you attended school during that time would be perfect. Even if you got a traffic ticket or if you wrote a check or open a bank account. When you father was sick did you sing any documents at the hospital or doctor's office. I do not think a sworn affidavit will work, but if you do not have anything else, peor es nada.

The best thing you can do is have all the neighbors you can get to sign a sworn affidavit saying they know you and know that you have been living in this country since october of 2000. You can print up a letter to that effect and get someone to make copies of that letter and have as many friends and neighbors as you can get to sign one and have it notorized. Also Police officers and any public officials, such as county or city commissioners letters can help you. I wish you the best of luck and may God bless you and your family.

Any paper work, utility receipts, pictures, sworn affidavits, and your history in this country should help, but definitely, a letter from a police officer {with a clean record, in his personnel file}, that likes you and knows the circumstances would be bonus points. Also, check the hospital your father died in to see if they kept any records of visitors and see if you're are listed.

I'd check if they listed acceptable evidence. and then see if the affidavit is acceptable. other things to see if they are on the list....evidence from your church on when you became a member? did you register to vote? did you have any other items like a contract that you rented an apartment or leased a car ...anything like that. did you ever attend a school and have a school ID?

How about some receipts (supermarket, malls-if you are using your credit cards, doctor's prescription, school registration etc.)or your neighbor, friends, teachers)

It would seem that all of those things would help, but weren't you in school? If you were, a record of your attendance/grades would be even better.
