As of May 2007, The United States has a 4.8% unemployment rate. This translates roughly to 15 million unemployed citizens.
If the Illegals were not here undercuting Federal Minimum Wage requirements would we have a lower unemployment rate?
The jobs had to be done by someone before the illegals came; they were done by minimum wage earning citizens, so don't say our people are too lazy to do them.
Do the Math: depending on whose information you use we have between 12-20 million illegals, and about 15 million unemployed citizens.
It would make sense to me that if they leave, our unemployment numbers will go down drasticaly.

Now, went to visit my grandfather in Oklahoma and we had a nice discussion about illegal immigration. According to him (Cherokee) - Long ago, the "American Indians and the White man went to war, and we had to give up our land." I nodded and said. "I know Grandfather...but then why is it that illegals from Mexico claim the land as there own?" He nodded and said "Land had been argued over for much time. Its American land..all of our people's land. We must accept it. Who is American?" And I joke with you not, he took out his wallet, and pulled out his SS card and placed it in my hand. "Anyone with this is an American. If they have papers, documents that are legitimate, they are legal citizens. Otherwise, they are invaders."

My grandfather is wise, don't you think so too? (he is 94 years old BTW). GOD BLESS ALL LEGAL AMERICANS!

I was stupid about 16 years ago and let someone that had befriended me use a stolen cheque book in the petrol station where I worked. Got a conviction for dishonesty - conditional discharge. I am married with kids now and looking to go to Florida and don't want to get kicked out on arrival. Don't want to go to all the trouble of applying if they just say no to anyone with a conviction? Can anyone give me some hope?

This is one I saw on TV and it seems like a "no brainier"
Most illegal aliens who have had children within the last 5 to 10 years are more than likely born on American soil making the children immediate American citizens.
So if you deport the parents, why do the children have to leave since they are citizens.
But who should take care of the children and why separate them from their parents if they are well taken care of?

Many Guatamalans are crossing into mexico for a better life and to do the jobs mexicans wont do. I don't understand why they aren't given mexican citizenship, educational and job opportunities. If they are caught illegally in mexico they are treated horribly. Since 1974, foreign immigrants in Mexico illegally have been subject to prison sentences of two years, plus a fine. Immigrants who are caught reentering Mexico after deportation face 10-year prison sentences, compared to two years here. I hear many of them are actually even killed. Why are they being so discriminated against?

Lets let everybody come have a better life. Why should Mexico be considered the greatest country in need. Mexico is, I am told is so bad,Iraq is a vacation spot compared to Mexico.People who want people to have a better life, let's include the whole world and not just Latin America. Let's bring everyone in..We shut down the border patrol no need to have them, shut down everything.Let us be fair and equal.Let's allow everyone in..Maybe we can get up press 50 on the phone. No need for NAFT anymore come one come all.

My Mother and I came to the US Legally in 2001.
My Mother was a teacher of english in Brasil but I had not learnt english yet. (I do now). When my mother married an American we had to wait 2 years to become legal residents because we over-stayed our Visas. My stepdad understood what was happening and petitioned for us to stay. My mother and I are very happy with our life here. I plan on going to college as I will graduate from high school this year. If it wasnt for my stepdad, I would not have had this oppurtunity as Brasil is very poor. I owe my stepdad everything as does my mother. My question is why do those who come to America illegally expect to be granted everything when people like my mom and others like her have had to wait and wait and be told we had to wait some more?

it's rather annoying to see questions entitled " kick all the illegals out", when they themselves should be kicked out as well. this land was stolen and this country was founded and built on lies.and on top of that they have the audacity to claim their jobs are being taken away? I just can't stand it anymore. Bash me if you will, i had to get this off my chest.

Hi,
I have a paternal Aunt and a maternal cousin who have been canadian citizens and living there for well over 30years, (my aunt much longer than that).

I recently heard that even such relations can now sponsor a relative of 37years of age for Canadian Immigration. How true is it?
I would appreciate if someone can send me a link to a page in this regard on the official Canadian website.
Thank you.

My sister applied for a job today and because she doesn't speak spanish, she was not hired. Last I knew, this was AMERICA, not mexico! Why should we have to learn spanish in our own country to be able to converse with the mexicans? Shouldn't it be the other way around? How dare the mexicans invade america and try to make us speak their language? It is bad enough that most of them are illegaly here. The legal immigrants that I know, at least speak english. Can my sister be able to sue the business for discrimination? By the way, the business is owned by chinese who don't speak spanish. What is up with this picture?

I will conceed that some people do bring their children with them from wherever when they come here illegally. I understand they did not have a say in the matter. What galls me is that when they are made aware of the fact they are illegal and turn 18, it is their responsibility to go back to their homeland. They are aware that they are breaking the law & continue to do so and whine about it. They should be pissed at their parents! If I do anything illegal, I can't get away with blaming my parents or pleading that I'll be forced to live bleow what I am accustomed to, they would laugh my butt right out of court! But when an illegal says it, it carries weight?! If you are here illegally , just go home and apply the correct way.

It is actually more than 10 times more expensive to keep them. Detailed financial reports indicate it will cost $2.5 TRILLION dollars to keep them here. That will cause the government to have to raise taxes on the middle class.

It is a dozens times less expensive to just send them home. And kindness is the only reason why they haven't been removed. But we are finally finding out "they bite (or knaw off) the hand that feeds them".
