Hey all, I'm 17 and an Indian living in Malaysia. I have graduated high school. My passport says "ECNR granted to the passport holder till he/she attains 18 years of age and provided he/she is accompanied by any or both parents." I have to fly alone to India this week. What issues will I have regarding the current ECR status? What can be done to obtain the ECNR status? Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Mass deportation is the only fair-legal-ethical way to address the problem of illegal aliens from south of the U.S. border! what about giving illegals from other countries such as haiti, england, armenia, etc. Amnesty -instead of these leaches who not only reap havoc on our strained resources, but have no respect or loyalty to this country or their own homeland.

I'm sick of the lies and propoganda! Mr O'riley has even caved for ratings... Glenn Beck is Honest (watch what he has to say on CNN Headline News...

...to be a citizen? most people trying to get into this country legally, but they have to take a citizenships test first.

so do us americans know the answers to this test? we should, otherwise, that means every (legal) immigrant in this country knows america better than americans!

here is the link to a hypothetical but accurate citizenship test:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19552808/

immigrants must make 80% to become naturalized, most americans don't even make any higher than 60%

I don't get it.
Anti's see illegals as being the lowest of the low and dumb as a doorknob. Is this because they are illegal or because they are from a different race??
What if an illegal went back to their native land and decided to come back the "right way legally", would these labels be automatically dropped?
The reason I ask this is because I've read some people post some answers seriously degrading illegals as if they are inept to do anything just because they are illegal.

SAY I BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials
in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest
(except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:

You are Required to let me stay in your house You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan You are Required to Educate my kids You are Required to provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me. And don't forget to make sure your forms are in MY language - I need to understand them...

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America .

According to Ann Coulter, via an interview with O'Reilly last night, she claims that allowing illegal immigrants to sue their employers would solve the immigration crisis.

We all know that's one of the key reasons why farms and companies hire illegal aliens to work for them - because they can get away with paying slave wages to them.

In Ann's theory, she claims that if we allowed them to sue for fair wages without deportation, it would force companies to pay everyone equally, including legal citizens, and stop the driving down of wages for the rest of us too. It may also cause the company to think twice about hiring someone illegal, causing less jobs for them here (that means more for LEGAL Americans), and thus less of a reason to stay or come here.

It doesn't sound like a bad idea. The only problem I see with this is giving them too much litigation freedom. Suing first over fair wages, then who knows what else next.

What do you think?

I bet you $1 that nothing will be done and they will keep coming. The next time, they will be trying to get amnesty for 30 million.

ok i have a question...
i am a us citizen born and raised here. i support illegals to an extent ok. yeah they came here the wrong way but they came here for an honest living in which more then 90% of you would do the same.
yeah i understand some do not pay taxes and are on warefare but..
niether do drug dealers and lazy americans that do not want to work and make a living for them self.
yeah they take up room in school but more white kids drop out then illegals do yeah illegal girls have babies at a young age but they suppor them and work even with a illegal documents also americans do it too.
and why is it a big issue any wayz i have seen more lite skin killers then brown you kw why b/cuz they get away with it and still we worry about illegals they are even scared to call the police for help due to deportion i don't think they would commit all those so called crimes lets think about people not skin color we are all created equal

From the Christian Science Monitor

"This get-tough attitude with businesses is growing across the US. As of April, 40 other states had introduced 199 bills related to employment of undocumented workers – the top subject of immigration-related legislation in the states, according to a report for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). Although Arizona's new law is apparently the harshest so far, Arkansas, Colorado, Hawaii, Tennessee, and West Virginia are still in the process of enacting legislation to force employers to verify their workers' legal status, cautions Dirk Hegen, an expert on immigration policy at NCSL. Now that federal immigration reform has stalled in Congress, more states are likely to act, he adds."

There is so much hate in most of these answers. Why? I am sure if most of them digg a little bit in their past they will find out that their parents or grand parents came here illegally. Even Lou Dobbs. I understand that they came here illegally, which is bad, but they are not the only ones. I think people should not say all kind of bad things about, like Lou Dobbs is doing on CNN every day. He speaks so bad about illegals, but he is getting millions just for talking about illegals. He should love them. Because he is making a living by talking about them all day.

Would you agree to give all illegals legal papers for fee, and they get to stay with their kids and family? Or would send all them back where they are from, and leave their kids here to raise themselves, and, maybe become wild? I don't know. i am just confused about the whole situation.

Think about how stupid that sounds. People who support laws against illegal immigration, listen up. Why is it bad for a person to drive from one part of the world to another and live there.
Imagine that Jesus is president. Bear with me here. Would Jesus care if some person wanted to move from one place to another because they thought it would be better to live there? Absolutely not.
Why should people even care that other people want to live where they do? Isn't that complimenting where you live. People should be happy more people want to live where they do unless they are jelous, and don't want to share the nice place that they live in. What is your opinion on what I'm saying. Please, only honest answers here.

I'm a Mexican -American born from illegal parents(who eventually got to be legal)
I used to always think them brave to come here.

The process to become a citizen is very costly and difficult so that's why many come.

If All immigrants were to pay their way in would you Americans be happy?

I understand how people might be angry, but I just want it to be made clear here, it doesn't involve racism right?

thankyou for those who answer, I just want it explained to me, i don't look to argue, i'm not well educated on this.

At 4th of July celebrations... how many people saw people there wearing flags or other paraphernelia from a different country? I saw many, many here in Virginia. I have to admit, it made me angry. The 4th of July is an American holiday! It's when we remember people who have died to keep this country free. It seems extremely inappropriate and disrespectful to me to wear a flag for another country. What does everyone else think?

I am so tired of people saying that if you are against illegal immigration, you're a racist or a bigot. The last time I checked "American" was not a race. It isn't about people's color; if it was a bunch of Germans or a bunch of Africans that were coming here illegally in droves I'd feel the same way. I DO feel the same way. In this country we teach people that you get nothing if you don't earn it. We are against people who try to do that, such as living here without paying taxes, or using our resources when you aren't a citizen. They always say they do the jobs Americans don't want to do. I personally believe that it's because they will take pay for the job that Americans couldn't live on because we have to pay taxes. $7.00 an hour goes alot farther when there're no taxes taken out. It also goes alot farther when there are 12 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment and before anyone says that's a stereotype, let me just say that I see it every day in my apartment building. Anyone else?
