SAY I BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials
in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.
Her point:
Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.
Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder
to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.
Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest
(except for when I broke into your house).
According to the protesters:
You are Required to let me stay in your house You are Required to add me to your family's insurance plan You are Required to Educate my kids You are Required to provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).
If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my RIGHT to be there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest, person, except for well, you know, I did break into your house And what a deal it is for me!!!
I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced, and bigoted behavior.
Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me. And don't forget to make sure your forms are in MY language - I need to understand them...
Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America .

that comparison is so true while so many dumbbutts are denying it!! i totally agree with ya. its a good grip on the reality of this illegal immigration problem. im tired of hearing about the native american story: it is true that maybe some of the same things happened to them but at least the country got better, not worse...and the first americans didnt get government benefits... lets leave this in the past huh?? but what is happening today is different, the illegals are making things worse. they are milking the benefits out of this country and then play victim.
all my respect goes to the native americans, but im tired of people using them as an argument to excuse the way illegals are behaving!!!!

Right on the money. It sounds so ridiculous when you put it in children's terms like this but maybe more people will understand the problem.

Hey Lobo, it is a great point and analogy and you are right.
The truth is the Government needs to let these Illegal people do this because they can't fix their very poor immigration policy and process to make it fair, less exclusive and offer a speedy service. If it were easier to apply, less expensive and less exclusive, nearly all of the illegal would apply properly.
I think we waste time looking to cure rather than prevent immigration problems. Prevention is the way to go for the future.
There is a shortage of workers to do the menial jobs that Americans will not do, there are not enough Legal immigrants coming through the immigration approval system as it is currently set up to fill these vacancy's. You know The Government will help Business's keep down costs by employing illegal people.
Let me give you an analogy too. The Government keep putting up interest rates forcing poor people into Bankruptcy and repossession; why? Do they like to punish poor people? No, they need to control inflation, which is a much more powerful and devastating threat to everyone, especially poor people. My point is this, it is a very bitter pill so it has to be swallowed or it will swallow all of us.
The real issue here is the incompetence of Government in making the application process faster and less restrictive. It would then be beneficial to apply properly than come into the US illegally. We will always have millions of illegal peoples here illegally until we have a realistic and enforced immigration policy.
You don't need to be legal to enjoy the lifestyle of America; Governments are not fair or honest when it comes to immigration. In fact they are unfair to their own born citizens in deporting their parents.
The whole process takes too long and is unfair and restrictive to most normal people that try to come here legally, even mothers or Fathers of young USA Citizens cannot come legally until their children are 21 yrs old, how fair is that? It is certainly unfair to children born in the USA to have their parents deported.
If the immigration system was faster, less exclusive and more understanding, people would make sure that they would apply properly as there would be no reason to try to come illegally. As it stands now they have little to lose that’s why there are 20 million illegal people’s contributing to the economy in the form of sales tax and doing the menial jobs that Americans will never do.
I know people that became millionaires whilst working illegal in the USA over many years; they are still there today. The process is too laborious to bother applying for legal status, who needs the funds off the Government anyway, certainly not hard working people.
Some foolish people may say keep immigrants out don't make it too easy for them. Hey it already is easy, the illegal people’s are going to come, are coming and will always come to the USA; until the immigration application process; is fixed by the Government.
Look at the Millions of illegal people’s from all over the world that were allowed to become citizens under the Clinton Amnesty in 2001 that was first introduced by G H Bush. Look at the millions of illegal people’s that are soon to be put on a roadway to citizenship by G W Bush.
It is an absolute tragedy that politicians hoodwink themselves into believing that this is the best way to solve the immigration problems of the USA. Every few years have an amnesty and let several million illegal people’s become legal citizens.
What does this say to people wanting to migrate into the USA? It says the fast track way to enter the USA to set up a new life is to AVOID the stretched out exclusive, unreliable and exasperating application process at all costs; fly there, stay there, work, wait a few years and then get my guaranteed amnesty place in a few years time.
Until Government immigration policy is changed, it will always be better for most immigrants to come to the USA through the Back Door to Guarantee their citizenship sooner rather than later.

Very good comparison.
Meanwhile they left their house to gather cobwebs, and it's partial condemned.
They figure since they aren't being kicked out of your house (because part of your family thinks you should keep them), that they should have a right/say to how you run your house. They couldn't take care for their own house, but now they want to take care of yours...or atleast have the benefits of it.
Oh, but I can clean that small corner that you don't want to....
Silly me, why don't I give you everything. Failure breeds success..../ sarcasm.

Yes, the situation is silly.

not the best comparison, after all the burglar (illegal) did get caught and would have been incarcerated(deported) before the protesters could say anything. maybe I'm taking it too literal.

all i can say is i hope congress does do something to keep illegals out & that people wake up & side with this same view you brought up, our country allows so much freedom that it can allow any group of people to cry injustice & hijack the institution to accomplish theyre own agenda.

No, it's a very bad comparison. There's just way too much wrong with this comparison. The illegal immigration problem has been going on for years..it wasn't until recently it has become a "problem" ...the question is ..why is it now? The only thing we can, or rather the lawmakers can do is punish companies who hire illegal immigrants. If there is no work, they won't come, but for some reason they won't do that. Capitalism is a double edged sword my friend, you either like it or don't.

I totally hear you! My stance on illegal immigration - go back and come back through legal means. People say that will break up families - well, I lived w/o my dad for 7 years (when I was a child) so he can come here, get legal, and bring us. So don't expect me to shed tears!
