You hit a point, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, all of us which either were born here, or became US Citizens, were ILLEGALS one day, just see the last names of some of our congress people, who is really an American, either they came on the May Flower (anderson, williams, fuller, martin, rogers, etc.) now check the congress: Ackerman, Andrews, Bachmann, Baldwin, Campbell, Carnahan, McHenry, Schakowsky, Smith, Sherman, Lewis, Waxman, Neugebauer, OHHH yes very AMERICAN last names, I wonder what would you find if you check their family history, are they ALL NATIVE AMERICANS, or they came here, some day, we are a nation created by ILLEGALS that HATE illegals, I am not saying that immigration has to be the way it is now, NO we have to have discipline, yes but without hate, I am wondering also why so many call AMERICANS wish to go back to "their land" for vacation, if you live in CA, remember Warren Duffy, ex DJ from KKLA, duffy and Company, he was more proud to be "Irish" than being American, he spoke about Ireland like the dream land, oh yes he is American, how many times I heard the guy talking like a "Christian" about Illegals, and the hate out of his mouth, but the first opportunity to go to Ireland, oo Lord can't miss that one, I am more proud to visit the grand canyon, or North Dakota, or Miami Beach, why should I keep going back to my fathers land, YES, i've been there, it's nice to go there but I AM AN AMERICAN, I rather know more this land, this is were I live NOW, if you miss so much Ireland or England, or any other country GO BACK you are the ILLEGAL not us, you are the WET BACK, not us, who told you you are an AMERICAN, guess who the only americans are???, everyone else is ILLEGALLY PARK HERE...
It is Ok, to make immigration LEGAL, and to make things right, but by now I believe to help those who came to work, and the ones that wants to leave at others expense, have to pay the price, go back..

Actually almost everyone that had to cross an ocean came here legally i.e they were screened by some government offical usually on Ellis Island for at least health and ability to work..
Sure many didn't have the proper documents but back then the US was a manual labor intensive economy.and truly needed these people. Today, we have a large underclass of citizens that would take a lot of these jobs that go to illegal aliens if they knew where these jobs were.
Our citizen underclass is not networked - most illegal immigrants are.
To Nina (next post):
Mexicans comprise at least 56% of all illegal immigrants i.e. just one country supplies over half the illegal immigrants in the US. Some reputable studies say it's 2/3.

I was watching Aqui y Ahora on Univision and while I firmly believe that all immigrants should come legally, and if they aren't legal they should go through the necessary steps to become legal, the issue the show discussed tonight was not a happy one. The level of hate crimes against Mexicans is apparently quite high these days, but oddly enough, a number of them are committed by other Mexicans. But people are getting beaten up in the streets, killed; it's not a good situation. That sort of thing shouldn't happen here, and I know it does happen all the time in every large city whether it should or not, and Mexicans are hardly the only victims, but it is still distressing. Ganging up on someone, whether they're legal or not, is not acceptable.
Anyway... just to let you know we don't all hate immigrants. We just get irritated when people from any country cross our borders illegally because in this day and age, that can have dangerous effects. I don't think many people realize how dangerous.

Sweetheart Lou makes some good points. These people are here 'illegally' and supporters are avoiding the term 'illegal' by leaps and bounds. People that are here 'legally' are very upset that they did things the right way. Also the aliens here 'illegally' are going into our hospitals and receiving healthcare free, but at the cost of citizens. Also the aliens here 'illegally' are taking jobs that high school and college students would normally take. Not to mention the slew of unemployed computer programmers and manufacturing works that our out of jobs due to the onslaught of outsourcing.
Believe it or not this countries economy is not as rosey as the media is making it out to be. If you read international news you will see.
If our government truly wanted to start fixing the issue the borders would have been secured a long long time ago. Don't worry your little head about this, the North American Union is coming and there will be no borders to worry about securing and our wages will be brought down to the wages of Mexicans and everything will be regulated.

America was founded by mostly hardworking honest people who came from different backgrounds but pulled together to make one strong new country. They came legally through many ports of entry.Nobody can claim to be more American than someone else, that is what make our country unique. The people who made this country strong had to let go of the past and move forward. They had to blend together and not let their differences come between them. What is going on now with this illegalissue and flying of foreign flags is just insane. It is not the dream our forefathers had for us.

My ancestors were a mix of Cherokee and Oglethorpe Georgia indentured servants. My family has payed its dues, including fighting in the Revolution, Civil War (most fought for the Confederacy except a small group that lived in North Virginia and moved up to Pennsylvania, joining the Union), WWI, and WWII.

It isn't about hate...it is about what is right and wrong.
My thing is that illegal aliens working in the US are not subject to US labor laws that protect Americans from dangerous conditions, long hours, and decent pay. Why come here, get paid less, worked to death, and sometimes in dangerous conditions?
There is a reason that some employers only emply illegals. They don't have to insure them, they don't have to pay them as well, and they don't have to worry that they will complain about working in dangerous and unsanitary conditions.
I think everyone should be able to work in decent conditions with decent pay and have insurance, and if you get hurt while working you receive workmen's comp. If you are an undocumented worker, you have no recourse if you are mistreated in any way while working for an employer.

I just wanna make my point...its not only mexicans...why is it that in MOST answers people put MEXICANS on the spot light..its also people from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba, and all of south america...n not just south america...all of asia and europe...its not just mexicans..that cross the border illegaly...and everyone needs to stop hatin on illegals because they are the ones who do all da hard work, while all the americans do the easy job inside a building typing their little papers n drinking coffee...if u think about it an illegal probably built that building you are in..made the clothes you are wearing..so next time stop and think..and see things from an illegal's point of view..

So, you think everybody should just love the crossing of our borders by third worlders. Lou Dobbs is just like most of us. We are sick and tired of Mexican flags being waved in our streets. Everyone I know would have more sympathy if they paraded around with the American flag. We don't like our cities like Miami turning into the third world. Please tell me how many illegals are here from something other than third world country. Oh, and by the way my family was here since the 1800's and it was all legal. Thank you.
