the mom came to meet up with her husband, but when she got here he was living with another woman. She is now stuck. She has no more money and not a good shot of making it here. What do we do? Morally - legally

I think morally they should be helped in a legal fashion. I think you should do what ever you can for them now untill you help them get back to Mexico. I would be scared to be in a country that my husband or wife abandoned me in. Also, it would probably be easier for them if they just went back, I know I woudn't want to be abandoned in a foreign country.

Obviously they are in the wrong country. How did they get here anyway? Sounds like hubby didn't have a clue that the family was coming to pay a visit.

Why not report the husband? He loses the woman he's cheating on his wife with, he gets sent back to wherever he came from and then you can ask the local church to collect donations to return the family safely.

No harm done and we're rid of yet another piece of scum (the husband). The wife will be able to keep better tabs on hubby - who has probably always cheated on her.

You are not legally liable for helping a person in need whether they have immigration papers or not. I don't know what state you are in but in my state, we have many programs for people in need and you can help her access those services. If she has been physically abused by her husband and he is legal, she can get a visa because of that. But it sounds like that's not really applicable. Ask her what she wants to do, help her do it if you can and advise her or find someone who can if you think she's being unrealistic.

Why would you ask this bunch of morons (save a few) anyway?

I think it would be wrong to turn them in. I know you have a legal obligation, but I think it should be her decision. Consult an immigration attorney and see what rights they have. Living here illegally is certainly not the best life for them. Tough dilemma.

Give them a meal and pay for their cab ride to the nearest ICE office. Be a good Samaritan, help your fellow Americans.

Do You wanna help her? Just help her. And a few years from now, You'll see her and her to sons marching somewhere in the USA, spitting on your flag, calling You racist, evil, f...gringo.
Help her, and when She joins La Raza and teach her kids how to hate this country and destroy this society, come back here and ask us why You feel so guilty.

Send her back home, best you can. Keep in mind that by aiding or harboring an an illegal, you are breaking the law. I would turn her husband in to the authorities and let them deport the both of them back to their homeland.

do not turn her in, but direct her in the right way by showing her the resources to get legal help. also if she can find a library she can look on line to find out how to become a legal resident. she may discover how impossible it is and decide to return to wherever she came from on her own. god bless and good luck if she can get the authorization to work. support the kids and herself. Also maybe you all should be looking to turn the man in. if he is already unfaithful what else will he do.

Legally, you can be guilty by association.

Morally, there are groups out there that can help them.

If she is here illegally, they can help her with paperwork and such. What kind of help does she need?

Food pantry, shouldn't require ID for help, some shelters don't either if she needs a place to live.

Check with your church. They might be able to help too.
Dont get yourself into trouble though, once you get a record a lifetime is a long time to live with something on it.
