Personally I believe that everything will stay the same. Nothing is going to change! They aren't going to enforce the laws on the books and illegals are going to continue coming in as they please. So basically we just agreed to "Silent Amnesty". You all just agreed to let them stay here and continue living as they are. Doesn't make much sense to me. At least some sort of reform would be doing SOMETHING.

completely illiterate and uneducated and feel the need to deny these poor souls a chance for a better life? Would you rather legal muslims and Europeans immigrate to this country than illegal Mexicans? Not Me.

This bill had a great many things in it besides that POS amnasty provision. Are there any elements of this legislation that are generally appealing to all sides.

I hate hearing how we need a "comprehensive" plan. Lets do the things that work, one at a time if needed.

Doesn't he realize that we are NOT against immigration. We vehemently object to ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

He is making absolutely no sense trying to confuse people by inferring we are against legal immigrants.

Why won't he close the borders? Does he want the country to fall apart? Does he really care about the country? Or the people in it? Can he really be that selfish!?!?!

Senate Immigration Reform Bill Takes Step Toward the Grave

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,286973,00.html

WASHINGTON — The fragile immigration reform bill crafted in the Senate faces sudden death Thursday when a second vote is scheduled to shut down a filibuster.

If supporters don't get the 60 votes they need to end debate, then the bill is dead since the Senate schedule does not allow any more time to revive the legislation.

In an unusual admission, two leadership aides — one Democrat, one Republican — told FOX News that they have no idea how the vote will go. Vote-counting is something that is normally down to a science in the Senate chamber. The vote to end debate, called "cloture," is expected at 10:30 a.m. ET.

I'm ashamed to admit that I have. I was trying to paint my house after I had a mild heart attack and a really "fresh" one walked up, not speaking a word of English, and took the brush from me. I kept him one day and let him go the next because I felt it was wrong. I actually had a neighbor walk over a THANK me for not using him. Two more came over and gave me a hand painting and scraping. Together we painted the house without illegal labor (except for the 5 hrs where my judgement was blurred). They refused any money but I spent $300 on beer and steaks the day we finished it. We also erected a flag pole and ran up Old Glory. Next day someone walking by broke my wife's back window out. (We have a LOT of illegals in my city) Now we park in the horse pasture behind the locked gates and the flag still waves. Wish we could lock the border as easily.

That it's racist to close borders and support only legal immigrants? How is it about race when this applies to ALL illegal immigrants, not just Latin-Americans, and also Latin-Americans come from different racial backgrounds.

"In a conference call with reporters on Wednesday, Chertoff said that enforcing immigration law is resulting in a shortage of produce since many of the workers that are being deported work in produce fields.

“We’re living in a world in which lettuce and fruit is not being picked because we are enforcing the law,” Chertoff said."

Tancredo was outraged by the Secretary’s comments and sent a staffer to Chertoff’s office with the head of lettuce and a fruit basket. A card attached to the basket read: “Much, much more where this comes from.”

“The agriculture industry and the free market has managed to keep producing through floods, droughts and $3 per gallon gas,” Congressman Tancredo, R-Littleton, said. “I doubt very seriously that a nominal increase in labor costs is going to be the end of lettuce as we know it.”

What do you think?
