Its just now becoming a HOT issue (immigration) because Bush and the Repubs need to draw as much focus as they can away from IRAQ....BUt in Bushes first 6 years, he had Repubs to back him --- if anyone should be mad, it should be republicans for Bush and the entire party not doing something about the immigration issue.

You guys claim the issue is not about race, and that it's about law, yet some senators have admited that this a racial issue!??
I'm assuming the members againts the bill are the ones that have an issue with race, so what does that tell you???
Yup you guessed it, reform is needed. BUT these racist can't handle the truth, plain and simple...

He was interviewed by Sean Hannity and told him "that he would not be intimidated by people calling and telling him how to vote on the immigration bill" He said he has "been doing this job for 40 years" and would vote how he saw fit. When did he stop representing what the majority wanted?

Apparently a Dallas lawyer thought people would, and came up with a web site USPatriotcompanies.com to advertise employers who pledge not to hire illegal immigrants. It is only 4 weeks old and has had 15,000 hits, per this article.

What do you think?

They come because we let them.
We let them because they belong here.
They belong here because we won the war
They lost the war, so their economy depends upon us.

your own? I don't go on a march flying British or German flags... Why are you disrespecting the very country you want to accept you?

Same goes with calling us obscene names. Do you think calling us 'nazi-@$$holes' will make us change our minds and accept you into our homes?

Americans are so upset over this, and the politicians know it, that I don't think the bill will pass. Not only that, I think we have only begun to fight! I believe the government will have to act on the desires of the people sooner or later, and will actually start to enforce some of our present laws and build a border fence. Granted I am being hopeful but I can't help feeling something good will come out of this mess. You should never doubt the willpower and resolve of the American people. But we need to keep the pressure on, and continue with our e-mailing, phone calls, etc.

4. Permanent Jobs for Agricultural Workers. S. 1639 offers an especially sweet deal for illegal agricultural workers once they obtain their Z-A visas. In Section 622 (b), the bill states, "No alien granted a Z-A visa may be terminated from employment by any employer during the period of a Z-A visa except for just cause."

Employers who dare to fire newly legalized aliens holding Z-A visas would do so at their own peril. The bill would create yet another administrative court system to review complaints by Z-A agricultural workers "who allege that they have been terminated without just cause." If the administrative hearing officer finds that the alien has established reasonable cause to believe that he was fired without just cause, the alien and the former employer must enter binding arbitration proceedings supervised by an arbitrator whose fees are paid by taxpayers. The burden is on the employer to demonstrate by a preponderance of the evidence that he fired the alien for just cause. To give the alien yet another legal boost, this special administrative process is non-exclusive. In other words, the alien may sue the employer at the same time in state or federal court for damages if any relevant causes of action are available.

Conclusion

On top of an already complicated immigration court system, S. 1639 would layer a complex mix of parallel administrative courts with nebulous standards and vulnerabilities to fraud. This new system would be an immigration lawyer's playground. Absconders would see their cases reopened, and the addition of poorly drafted new statutory language to already voluminous immigration laws and regulations would make the Internal Revenue Code look simple.

Aside from the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens who would receive amnesty, the biggest beneficiaries of this legal morass are the immigration lawyers who would bill millions of dollars representing their clients as the cases drag on. That is not entirely surprising, because the American Immigration Lawyers Association reportedly played a central role in drafting the Senate bill. It is also a natural consequence when a bill is drafted behind closed doors and shielded from the normal process of committee scrutiny.

What a mess with these babies that are born in the US to illegal aliens. What can be done to stop this awful problem. I see these kids on tv whose are parents are being deported (which I agree with for anyone illegal) but then wonder what will happen to these(legal citizen) kids. I would like to see the law changed to not automatically grant citizenship unless one of the parents is a citizen. Since that does not look like it will happen, what should/can be done? We certainly don't want to encourage more of this behavior but can't just kick out the legal child. Looks like splitting them up is the only option; it makes me mad that these parents don't think of this before they put the children in the position of possibly growing up without their parents. Very selfish!

Why can't people understand the word "illegal"? It means: unlawful, against the law.

Have you thought about when contacting your senator and congress to let them know what is being said and show them what the pro and illegals are saying on here?? ...how they can get away with breaking our laws and how it makes our politicians look like Big Dummies?? It is actually a slap in Americas face what they say on here... I did today!! I faxed it to them!....my senator that is against illegal immigration thanked me very much ...Maybe just maybe they will see that the illegals are not here as they claim for a better life ...but they know they can live for free and break our laws...Seems to me if we dont let them know if they care or not that if they can break the laws so will Americans by getting them out of our country !

I'm willing to pay a fine. I'm even willing to leave and come back. I can do one of the jobs that the White House is unwilling to do. If I'm already in the White house should I just stop in at the security desk and get a pass? It's really not practical to go from door to door looking for me when I just want to work.

I just read about the Sheriff in Florida that has some unusual techniques for catching illegals on construction sites. I have no problem sharing citizenship with people of any nationality, but I truly resent illegals coming here, taking jobs from Americans, and allowing business owners to pocket outrageous profits because they do not pay full wages, insurance, social security, or workers comp on illegals. I am outraged by organizations like the ACLU and organizations working to help illegals here in the USA to try and get around laws already on the books with the justification of "they are doing jobs Americans won't do". Round these illegals up, fingerprint or chip them, and send them back the first time with a warning that if they come back, they will be put in a work camp like Joe Arpaio has for criminals in Phoenix. Let them go through the ligitmate process of immigration and keep Americans working. We might pay a little more for fruit and vegetables but mostly it cuts profits!
