Personally I believe that everything will stay the same. Nothing is going to change! They aren't going to enforce the laws on the books and illegals are going to continue coming in as they please. So basically we just agreed to "Silent Amnesty". You all just agreed to let them stay here and continue living as they are. Doesn't make much sense to me. At least some sort of reform would be doing SOMETHING.

exactly! Nothing will change! SO why are people celebrating the failure of a reform when the illegals get to continue to stay here. When we still aren't enforcing our laws?

Won't happen...and if WE the people were so powerful then there would never have been talk about an immigration reform that gave so called"amnesty" to illegals anyway...and if WE the people were so powerful then the bill wouldn't have gotten as far as it did. So obviously we aren't powerful at all.

Well now that the bill is dead, everything will remain the same. there won't be any funding to increase the numbers of Border Patrol agents, there will be no funding for the 700 mile fence that had been trumpeted by the House in the immigration legislation they passed last year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't know. I just feel after all these times of being voted down they know the American people don't support amnesty. I'm in my 50's and I don't remember a time when people who weren't very active in politics actually made their first call, wrote their first e-mail and joined groups to have their voices heard before. This isn't a race issue....it's something people of every color are effected by. It's about our laws and our country. They have done everything they can to confuse and cloud the people minds but it didn't work. I actually read full bills.....something I never did before. I've been seeing the effects for years and people aren't being swayed by one feel good legal immigrant story when the reality is living next door and it's not the picture they are painting.

They voted the bill concerning the fence into LAW......now it's following up to make sure they build it. Rather useless to deport people when they're back the next day. This didn't happen overnight and won't be fixed overnight.

I'm sure there are people who have already started some sort of legal process to make themselves legal and live legally within the laws. Or they have employers who are just going to have to pay their fees and get these people legal. There is a path. Nobody wants to use it. I really hope the "good hardworking, honest, etc" ones do just that. I hope if they want to fight something.....they fight the crooked lawyers who have lied to them or fight where specific problems lie and not the American people who want their laws enforced. Or bring to light the crooked employment practices of these slave laborers. Heck, I'd be on the band wagon to stop that in a heartbeat. But not when they scream about whites wanting slaves and that whole business......or doing jobs Americans won't do bull. There are problems and they do need to be addressed.....blanket amnesty wasn't the way with this bill. It was giving big business and this government the thumbs up to import cheap labor legally and illegally from whatever country they want. I don't want to see anyone of any color used like that. Even if they volunteer for it because it brings us all down. I didn't think how low can you go was the goal. That's not been the American way to me. I thought we learned from our past mistakes. Children, blacks, asians, Irish etc, women.....same issues and now I'm "racist" because I'm saying no and we have a hord of people that don't realize it's a cliff their demanding to run off of? Then what.....100 yrs. down the road blame ALL whites again for something they never believed was right to begin with just because the majority were Mexican this time around and a few rich people benefitted off it? Sorry....been blamed enough for something I had no part in or my ancestors either.

I'm hoping the powers that be that are on the pro side wake up and see who and what the real enemy is. Blowing out my candle doesn't make yours burn brighter.

Well there you go,
you answered your question. In my opinion, there is really nothing people can do. I mean anti immigration supporters. Just like you said "WE the people have no power". You'll just have to settle for it. There is nothing anti-immigrant supporters can do about it. You can't kick people out just like that. The immigrant community's power is increasing and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. There will be another bill soon and hopefully they'll be able to fix the immigration problem. As for the immigrants, GOOD FOR THEM!!!!!!!!! They ain't going no where and they are not gonna let some dumb ignorant idiots stop them!

I think you underestimate the willpower and resolve of We, the People. We're already working on getting enforcement issues solved. How about 2 million well-armed Minutemen at the border?
