Immigration - June 2007

If I call ICE and they come to investigate, will they penalize me or can I be charged with something like a discrimination lawsuit if the people who appear to be illegal are really here legally?

I know you will ask 'why do I think they're here illegally?' They can't speak English, there are many of them doing cash jobs like lawn service, etc.

I am near Chicago where a lot of the illegals live and protested on May Day with the protection of our police departments.

i.e DOB, race, etc. etc. and maybe work even work history for a person under consideration?.

If the SSA does not have this capability, could the reason be political? Especially since the SSA is one of the most efficient agencies anywhere. Since illegal immigrants cost the US taxpayer $35 billion per year more than business saves, it seems this search capability would pay for itself in 3 months or less.

IMO, there is no IT reason why an SSNO can't be checked to see if the resulting data matches the person who is using it. Even if the database is a few gb. The cost/benefit ratio has to be .001 or less.

If such a capability exists, then every ICE agent and legitimate HR Dept should have access.

...that the amount of anger, hate, cussing, racism, and evil has maximized from both sides of the immigration issue since this whole immigration bill was presented and shot down?

and note that i say BOTH sides of the issue. i've seen all kinds of names, slurs, and heated debates that often include personal assaults.

who agrees that both sides need to clam down a little bit? i have seen so many offensive words used that were directed at one person, yet insulted many!

you know what i'm talking about.

protest immigration. 2/3 of americans supported that bill, and the 1/3 is exactly are the high school drop outs(college too). They actually have to compete with with the illegals for jobs and because of their own stupidity for not finishing school they blame their misery on undocumented workers. It's quite sad. Well you can be sure that you will not even be able to deport half a million illegals before they will be given amnesty in 2009 so keep whining, but when the congress is 75% democratic, your whiny voice will not be heard anymore, bigots.

I personally dont agree that it was a amnesty as such. Although i think the fact that they pushed out the hole going back to there home country, just made it seem like to much of an easy ride. (just having to pay a fine?) What do you think, what would you do better to correct the illegal situation we have? I do however agree that we need to focus on secureing the border first had, but what will we do with all the current illegals? Your veiws much appreciated.

I figure that if Mexicans can do it here, why can't we do it there? I say we get a million US citizens together then head down to Mexico City and march through the streets demanding the right to live and work freely in Mexico. All of our signs will be in English (despite the fact that Mexicans speak Spanish and so won't understand them) and we will wave US flags. The point is to show the hypocrisy of it all: while the Mexican government wants the US government to bend over backwards for Mexicans in the US, Mexican immigration law is very strict. It is almost impossible to get a job working in Mexico unless it's something like an English teacher. Mexican police on the southern border with Guatemala treat illegal Guatemalan immigrants a lot worse than the American police treat their illegals. Non-Mexican citizens in Mexico can be deported instantly for making any political statement at all, no matter how small. In other words, Mexico needs to evaluate itself before yelling at us.

if an illegal immigrant asks for pardon, is there any chance that they can return to their country and with time gain a chance to enter legally? If so, how long must they reside in their country and what must take place? I would truly appreciate some valid info.

I was listening to the people calling in to C-Span this morning about whether or not they support the bill. A young girl called in and sounded like she was crying. She said that she loved being here and enjoyed going to school and having the opportunity to learn. She said that she wished that her brothers could be with her to learn to.

So here is my thought. Why don't we spend the money on helping to make it a little better for the people who need to go back by assisting them in building schools and hospitals - like we do in other third world countries. Maybe if we could find some compassion for those who are caught in the middle of this situation -we could begin to heal.

I for one do not want to make Mexico our enemy, but I also don't want them invading our country and corrupting it. How can we begin to repair the damage. Think about it. They escaped from a country that has nothing to offer them.

They don't belong in the USA -what happens when they return? Suggestion?

the word "immigrant" has received a silent "illegal" before it on this site?

let me explain

if i posted a question asking, "do you love immigrants?"

i would probably receive many responses similar to "no, they broke the law, they need to go home."

but notice i never once used the word "illegal"

so back to my question, why has it come to the point where almost everyone on "yahoo answers" thinks the word "immigrant" now means "illegal immigrant?"

in case people have not noticed, this is the "immigration" forum which means questions are open for both illegal and legal immigration topics

but for a long time, i've seen so many jump to the conclusion that "immigrant" means "illegal immigrant" and the question was therefore completely taken out of context

please, give me your thoughts

Everyday. Are people not paying attention to the RESOLVED answers on here or are people just so clueless?

We have forced them to kill the "amnesty for illegals" fiasco.(Over 80% of those polled said it was unacceptable.)

So how can we (as legal, law abiding, legally registered voters) force them to build the wall, deport ALL the illegal criminals, and secure our borders once and for all?

Don't try to stop us now. It's WAY to late for that!
I'm just getting warmed up. :)

Suggestions? Ideas? Phone numbers or websites?
