I live in the US and I'm curious about how other countries handle this problem.

2007-03-17 08:19:52 · 22 answers · asked by Anonymous

I have expired Taiwan passport w/valid F-1 visa & I-20.

I couldn't get my TW passport renewed because TW government wants me to finish the mandatory military service for 1.5 years.

I had been in US for 9 years since high school and now just got married to a US citizen wife who was also originally came from TW.

I'd like to ask if we file I-130 & I-485, will it be problem my TW passport is expired?

I m applying Adjust of Status and have valid F-1 visa (expired 2009).

I am not sure if it will be problem when I applied for AOS and PR.

Will USCIS only care about my valid F-1 visa or my TW Passport which was expired in 2006?
(The F-1 visa is stamp in the expired TW passport)

Please someone who has similar experience and knowledge to help me.

Thank you

"Hearing set in agents' case
Panel to look at Mexican influence in prosecution
Sara A. Carter, Staff Writer
Article Launched: 03/14/2007 12:00:00 AM PDT

A congressional hearing was granted Tuesday to look into the possible involvement of Mexico in the imprisonment of two former Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a Mexican national.
The hearing will focus on the Mexican government and the prosecution of Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. The agents were sentenced to 11 and 12 years, respectively, after shooting an admitted drug smuggler in the buttocks as he fled across the Texas-Mexico border.

The hearing, which has not been scheduled, will be conducted by the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight.

Chairman William Delahunt, D-Mass., called for the investigation at the request of senior committee member Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Huntington Beach.

My boy friend & i were flying from Germany to the States(2 years ago from a holiday). We met these young Romanian couples. She looked pregnant. We had a chat with them. They were also flying to NYon a tourist visa. Both were heavy smokers & drinkers, though she was pregnant, that didn't stop her from smoking or drinking .
Me & my boyfriend were concerned about the health of the baby so we asked them if they should change their bad habbit so the baby would not be harmed. Their response left us (me & my boyfriend) in total shock. They replied : Actually they drink & smoke more heavy so their baby would be born in the US retarted or disabled so he would automatically be a US citizen & they could collect the benefits & that would make them live good for the rest of their lifes ,back in Romania.
I SWEAR IT IS A TRUE STORY !
Since then ,me & my boyfriend became against that law that grands anchor babies automatic citizenship.

No other wealthy, western nations grant automatic citizenship to those who simply happen to be born within their borders to non-citizens. These nations recognize that citizenship involves more than the physical location of one’s birth; it also involves some measure of cultural connection and allegiance. In most cases this means the parents must be citizens of a nation in order for their newborn children to receive automatic citizenship.

Americans welcome immigrants who follow our immigration laws and seek a better life here. America is far more welcoming and tolerant of newcomers than virtually any nation on earth. But our modern welfare state creates perverse incentives for immigrants, incentives that cloud the issue of why people choose to come here. The real problem is not immigration, but rather the welfare state magnet...

Do you think the USA should end birth -right citizenship ?
Or
Do you think it should remain as it is now and why

in lobbying on illegal immigration. I just think the church should decide if it wants to be a tax exempt church or a taxable lobbying organization.

However, I thought this was interesting.

You must learn who the real enemy of the world's innocent peoples, including Americans and American soldiers outside America.

There are two kinds of Bush supporters: The genious ones; They are the owners of great transnational companies... And the idiots, they are the voters who waste their votes in favour of those transnational companies. Read the following and you will see what I mean...
Now that we live in the age of disinformation, maybe it won't make any difference to you. The ages are getting darker and darker. And I wanted to share with you the following facts: If you agree with me please send them to as many friends of you as possible...The transnational companies which are using American government and ARMY to sip oil from Iraq are paying back with some of the money they have earned by selling the oil they have been continuously stealing from Iraq. They will do the same in Iran and Venezuela.America is no more controlled by its national companies. Transnational companies are a great threat both for America and the world. A transnational company is one that feels no loyalty to any nation. They don’t pay any taxes to any government and they are strong enough to overthrow governments all over the world. For the time being they are using Americans. They threat America by the fact that if they draw their capital and investments from America 55 % of its population will be jobless.

It seems like if someone was causing your culture to be generally looked down upon, you'd encourage the trouble makers to straighten up and fly right. Of couse, people shouldn't judge all Hispanics by the actions of 8.5 million illegal immigrants but you know it's happening. So, how DO you feel about it?

I filed my I-130 for my husband, and expect approval any day now, but I have no idea what to do next. I know I need to file a I-601 and a not from my doctor with it, but what do I file with that? I get the Immigrations processed confused and need someone to draw me a picture if anyone can. (my husband was deported and excluded for 10 years. The only crime he committed was illegal entry into the country).

A great argument for keeping them is that they do jobs that no American wants to do. This is not true they do work that Americans don't want to do at nothing wages. Example; a cabinet maker in New England makes about $35.00 an hour, and south Texas he makes $8.50 an hour making it a job that no American can afford to do. I have no problem with legal aliens as they have to compete at the same level as all other Americans. I am married to a foreign national, and so is one of my sons. Do not confuse one with the other.
