My boy friend & i were flying from Germany to the States(2 years ago from a holiday). We met these young Romanian couples. She looked pregnant. We had a chat with them. They were also flying to NYon a tourist visa. Both were heavy smokers & drinkers, though she was pregnant, that didn't stop her from smoking or drinking .
Me & my boyfriend were concerned about the health of the baby so we asked them if they should change their bad habbit so the baby would not be harmed. Their response left us (me & my boyfriend) in total shock. They replied : Actually they drink & smoke more heavy so their baby would be born in the US retarted or disabled so he would automatically be a US citizen & they could collect the benefits & that would make them live good for the rest of their lifes ,back in Romania.
I SWEAR IT IS A TRUE STORY !
Since then ,me & my boyfriend became against that law that grands anchor babies automatic citizenship.

Sad to say that it doesn't surprise me.

There are websites out there that help people from from other countries come here to have children for any number of reasons.

Considering the country that you say the people are from - which is in hard times - I see what you have written as very possible.

I think the health of the worlds children is the concern of every one. They have made countless discoveries about the harmful effects of drinking and smoking on an unborn child ,over the past years. Things such as drinking, smoking and drugs, even prescription ones have been proved to have adverse affects on the fetus. From a moral point of view we want all children to be born healthy. From an economic point of view ,we don't want to have to pay for the children of people that were irresponsible and caused them long term health related problems, thru their on stupidity or negligence. That the taxpayers have to pay for. Legal or illegal makes no difference in this scenario to me.
And yes if I saw a pregnant woman drinking ,smoking or doing drugs ,I would stick my nose into their business, for the sake of the unborn child.
And I feel that the 14th amendment needs to be clarified or repealed.

there used to be a law that prevented the women from flying past the 7 month for this reason. here is the deal the child can only collect ssi after is is legaly decared disabled no easy process btw. and they money cannot be used or sent overseas. unlike ssa for retired folks.

go to www.ssa.gov you cannot even take that money to canada.

in most nations a child born in that nation is legal.

ps the term re is not used by dr it is developmentally delayed.

I'm not surprised by some of the horrible things people do. Some women are throwing themselves over the border fence as their baby is crowning, just so the kid is a citizen!

I've never been for anchor babies. Why should the taxpayers pay for something that comes from an illegal act (illegal alien criminals.)

That is very disturbing. I feel that someone who may be in prison for a murder is a better person than them two pieces of shiot.

if your story is true..then it is awful....but putting the name anchor baby to any child..regardless if their parents are legal or not is heartless and cruel....
