This leniency is already showing its effects. The reasons basically come down to power and politics. Corporate lobbyists and radical ethnic organizations are paying off politicians and using block voting threats as blackmail against enforcing our laws.
As for the opinion that California is productive because of illegal aliens, while the rest of the country is "lazy" by comparison, this is easily refutable. You will see the same phenomenon of extreme wealth mixed with extreme poverty, with a shrinking middle class, in any third wolrd country. California cities like Los Angeles already resemble a third world environment. Overcrowding, slums, pollution, prohibitive cost of living a decent life, violent demonstrations in the streets. California's millionaire figures are somewhat skewed by the Hollywood film industry and also the fact that Silicon Valley produced many millionaires in the previous 20 years. But the middle class is moving out of California in droves, leaving behind only two types of people: those willing to live in deplorable conditions of poverty which are par for the course in the third world countries they illegally immigrated from, and those millionaires with enough money to shield themselves from such people. That is not the America most of us want to live in, and more likely than not, things will reach a breaking point, triggering a backlash against these illegal immigrants. We shall see.....

Here in the USA, it's my opinion that the "politically correct-squad" has made it so that enforcement of immigration law or any effort to control our sovereign borders would be a great crime of RACISM or even (gasp) CLASS WARFARE !!
They've made it so we can't call them what they ARE.. "ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS"... they are now "economic refugees" !!
These are the same folks who want MURDER given special labels based on who the criminal and victim are. In their eyes: if it's straight white male killing a straight white male, it's murder... but if it's a straight white male killing anyone ELSE... it's probably actually a "hate-crime" and must be treated differently.
FIRST... enforce and strengthen laws against corporations hiring illegal-workers... and use fines based on their income... so that the "giants" like Wal-Mart would HURT if they keep hiring illegals.
Then BUILD the fence... deport ANY and ALL illegals arrested for ANY criminal offense... and then configure ANY "guest worker program" so that they HAVE to have a current legal and recent WORK VISA obtained at a port-of-entry (thereby forcing current illegals to return to the border and take the required steps to re-enter LEGALLY).
Also, update and pass laws so that ANY Federal Government worker from Congress to the Border Patrol who accepts money from a foreign government or organization is subject to loss of job and prison

Immigrants have been an integral part of the fabric of this country for generations. Yet, not until recently has America begun to recognize the scope and scale of our impact and influence. Take, for example, the election of Antonio Villaraigosa as mayor of Los Angeles. His success is a strong indication that we are maturing politically and that we are enmeshed in America’s political tapestry. America is changing and it is changing for the better. America’s future is brighter because immigrants rejuvenate the American Dream. We know this deep in our hearts.

Cheap labor. The business owners like having the pool of very cheap labor the immigrants supply.

In California, the state is virtually dominated by immigrants. We also boast the most millionaires that any state in the United States. You can't say that about the Midwest when you have the old lazy generations of Americans. I would rather have the world's top doctors and engineers and the hard working low foreign class to do the clean up, cooking and gardening work move to California than the lazy fat ones from other states.

It depends if your talking about illegal or legal immigrants. If your talking about illegals it is because the president is dumb, those illegals want everything given to them without working for it. I was happy that there was a raid in the state I live in (Massachusetts) but was unhappy that they failed to send them back where they came from.
