Former employees are suing Swift & Co. for $23 million, alleging the meatpacking company conspired to keep wages down by hiring illegal immigrants. The 18 former employees are legal residents who worked at a plant in Cactus, Texas, north of Amarillo. The plant was one of six facilities raided in a multistate federal sweep that led to the arrests of nearly 1,300 employees and temporarily halted Swift's operations. "These plaintiffs are ... victims in a long-standing scheme by Swift to depress and artificially lower the wages of its workers by knowingly hiring illegal workers," said attorney, Angel...

I've been dating my Japanese girlfried now for about seven months. She came to the US as a foreign exchange student on a student Visa, then she got a job and is now on a Employer sponsored Visa. She's been in the US now for almost five years, but her Visa runs out in March.

I really do want to marry her. I'm 28 and I know that she is the one for me.

3 questions

What do I have to do to make her a citizen? Do I still have time? Where can I find out about the legal process?

EVERYONE that was coming here ILLEGALLY was REALLY looking to make a better life for themselves and they were all hard working and trying to do their absolute best?

Would it change your feeling on the LEGAL/ILLEGAL issue if they weren't sucking the social services that we have dry?

Would it change your feelings if they were really trying to learn English and assimilate into our country and they actually WANTED to become an American citizen?

And is there a difference for the status of the child if his/her parents are illegal immigrants? I know every country is different, but I just want to know the general idea why it's an international standard?

In 2005, Mexicans in the United States remitted some $20 billion home. That's 3% of Mexico's entire national income.

Remittances have surpassed tourism, oil, and the maquiladora assembly industry to emerge as the country's top single source of foreign exchange. For the 6% of Mexican households that receive remittances, these funds can mean the difference between extreme poverty and an income roughly in line with the Mexican average.

Today, almost one-fifth of all living Mexican-born people now make their homes in the United States. You have to go back to the Irish potato famine to find a parallel. But Mexico is not suffering famine: It is suffering from a comprehensive failure of political and economic leadership.

I have posted question asking for real personal problems and never got a valid one.
Illegal immigrants DO NOT get free health care. But they pay for SS benefits.
Illegal Immigrants DO NOT get un-employment. But they pay un-employment benefits.
Illegal immigrants DO NOT get paid under the table. But Americans on un-employment do.
Illegal immigrants use SS# at random but do not collect benefits from that number.
Americans use SS#'s and they use it for identity theft.
All the money spent on "illegal" in jail should be classified "money spent on criminals"
All the money spent on Illegal immigrant's children health and school should be classified "US citizen’s children expenses"

It boils down that all this hate against illegal immigrants is really an excuse for venting out racist feelings. So deal with it honestly at least.
Illegal immigrants in USA is like apple pie it has being here from the beginning and it will never leave.

Hello Everyone,

I have one issue related to H1B visa stamp on my passport.

In my indian passport, I have a visa stamp valid through Nov 2007. That stamp is from my previous employer-A. My new employer-B has transferred my visa with them and I started working with them. I have all the required papers related to my visa transfer to my new employer.

Now my question is, do i need to stamp on my passport for my new employer if i leave USA and re-enter it after 2 week's vacation? Remember, I still have valid h1-b stamp on my passport but it is from my old employer and currently i am working with my new employer.

Please advice.

Thank you.

Best Regards,
Paras Shah

The collection plates are full. The Catholic Church has millions for lawsuits, but what don't they have is any money to give to the poor people of Mexico ? Why want the Cathlolic's take care of each other ? There are more than enough members in America to supply any help to any families in Mexico who might need this help without them enduring very much hardship.

i mean yes, there are bad immigrants and good immigrants just like people all over. but what i just cant understand is this country was founded on people who wanted to escape their lifes. and make a better one for themselves. personally im not some tree hugging hippie that belives that everything should be fair but when someone leaves everything they have. to cross a border on foot for miles to bust their butts for a crappy wage but they know its better than what they made before. and then they send about 85 percent of their wages to their families back at home. they should have all the rights to come here. that right there is an answer to why illegal immigrants always take your job its because they are willing to do anything to survive. we as a civilization are no longer hungery as we should be. if we bust our a**es as much as them. we wouldnt be losing our jobs now would we.

i had notice than there is some people who seem to be worried about the abuses which immigrants from south America go through in mexico . i want to add than i feel as worried as they are and than i do not agree in any way on this situation . however i had found than the same people who say to be opposed to this pretend to do the same in America which is really disturbing and kind of annoying .

so my questions are :

is there logic on this kind of thinking ???

do they really care or they are abusing being in a completely different situation to mock what other have to live ???

is this what America stand for ???

should America enforse being humanitarian and intervene politically to help those immigrants from south America who live in Mexico since Mexico is its main bussiness partner ???
