I am a critical thinker, not an Amercian hater. Get your information straight before making accusations. Free speech is one of my rights in the USA also if you were not aware.

The American dollar will carry more weight in a third world nation than here. The American economy will lose some spending and it will continue as more Americans are ready to retire. At the same time, the chosen nation will reap the benefits of an increased inflation and very necessary dollars.

It's just economics. They usually move away because they're on fixed incomes and their money goes farther in most Latin American countries. They are good for the economies of the countries they move to.

BTW Jake....pay attention!...she didn't specify Mexico, there are many other countries in Latin America that people move to.

How come you live in the USA if you hate Americans so damn much woman? All of your posts are anti American, you are filled with hate. Those retirees you speak of actually bought land down there and enjoy living amongst the natives. So what you are doing now can only be considered as bigotry. Use a different analogy next time, because at the rate you are going, you are only sure to make enemies.

Yes and No. Yes if they pay taxes, but they usually do not do it. Yes, the help being consumers to local products, and no, because they usually do not consume local products. And it is not only about economy, it is also about respect. I have heard americans who treat locals really bad... as if the locals were forced to serve them. Some americans usually do no adapt or do not respect the local customs. So, it would depends... I think the US government should do as the UK DFID, issuing some guidances for their nationals moving of visitin abroad, so they can help the local development. (take a look at thee rough guide issued with the DFID)

Sure they are good for the country that they are moving to, as long as they are going there through the legal procedures.

That is good if we recognize that retirees are leaving this country for other countries as well so we must ask ourselves why we have become a nation valued less by our retirees than other countries.
