Of these non-citizen Latino adults, an estimated 55% are undocumented immigrants and the other 45% are legal aliens.

Hispanics who are not citizens feel much more vulnerable in the current environment than do Hispanics who are citizens. They are about twice as likely as Hispanic citizens to worry about deportation and to feel a specific negative personal impact from the heightened attention to illegal immigration.

Why do legal aliens worry about being deported, and what should be done about it....if anything?

Someone I know posted a cassette tape to someone they met on an internet forum, for them to transfer to mp3, have they relinquished ownership rights if they did not specify the person return them, is possession really nine-tenths of the law as the old adage goes?

If as some suggest,we "mind our own business" and enact an isolationist foreign policy, close the borders, limit imports,etc..
When, not if,we are attacked would those "isolationist policies" have caused or been a factor in the attacks?
Remember, there have been NO isolationist countries that have NOT ,at some point in thier history, been attacked or invaded.

I am gong to verifiy this with the labor board, but I received the statement below from my employer. I was surprised that although my timesheet states "Overtime - 1.5 rate" my employer was only paying my overtime at the regular rate. I emailed them and this was the response:
Good afternoon. Unfortunately, the cut off for time and a half for is $27.50 an hour. If a consultant makes more than that amount, he/she is not eligible for time and a half and is paid straight time.

I'm sorry for any confusion about this. But that's also standard in the industry.

I read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overtime and I am neither an independent contractor nor a salaried employee. I am a W-2 hourly consultant. I'm going to call the Federal labor Board tomorrow, but wanted to know if anyone here has the scoop.
Thanks

If the Bush administration was behind 9/11 in an effort to create some sort of casus belli against Iraq, wouldn't it stand to reason that it would have also planted a few WMD so that nobody would later question the validity of the mission?

If you purport that this administration in populated by evil geniuses, it seems unlikely that nobody would have thought of that. It would have been relatively simple compared with the logistics necessary to pull off 9/11.

How do you square the two?

I am in a precarious position. There is a distinct possibility that I will be laid off at the beginning of next year after 9 years with a company I like and I can't afford not not work. A relative at another company just got a promotion and sent the boss my resume. We had an interview that went well. I didn't expect to hear anything until after the holidays, but he called and made me an offer. Unfortunately the pay is considerably less that what I am making now. The health insurance benefits are terrible. If I knew for sure that I was going to lose my job, I would definitely take this for the short term, but I since they want an answer now, I am inclined to turn it down.

How do I turn down this offer without burning this bridge? I still have the relative who did me this favor and who knows where I'll be in another couple of weeks?

I've been following this case quite religiously because I keep hoping they'll find some kind of evidence to officially charge Drew Peterson. I know a person is innocent till proven guilty, but I'm really irked by his nonchalance regarding her disappearance. I know there's a slim possibility that he has nothing to do with her disappearance but living in a world where reading about men murdering their wives seems to be the norm, I can't help but wonder.

He maintains he's not looking for her because she called him the night before she was reported missing to tell him she'd left him for another man. I've searched and read all the facts revealed about the case, but does anyone know if this call was actually verified? It probably was, but there seems to be no details about it anywhere.

So what do you think? I mean, wouldn't/shouldn't she have resurfaced now if she did indeed run away? She'd call her family..right? If alive, wouldn't it be a crime to not show herself?

Thoughts/answers pls
