I paid the equivalent of $20 per semester in my system. I attended one of the best schools.
With my taxes, I will provide the same opportunities to other people.

For 10 000 times the price, I would not have been able to afford a day-care for rich kids.

The question is, "Could I have spent my time getting a better education than the spoon fed public one"? You don't need to hate anybody, just weigh the results against the investment of time and energy you put into school. Are you happy with the level of knowledge you have right now? Why not?

Depends on what country you grew up in. Here in the USA the tax payers paid through the nose for it. Our education system is the most expensive in the world and one of the least effective. You can thank the "communist" teacher's union for that if you like. Now that you have an education it's time to get a job and start paying taxes to pay for other people's education. I wonder what question you'll be asking next year? Could it be "Why are my taxes so high and we still have the worst education system in the world?"

The communists figured out that the most important requirement of a society is care and education of the young, who are the future of that society. Regardless of the propoganda that came with the education, there were many positive results, especially in the arts and science. Unfortunately, they never figured out how to use the graduates of their system in a rational, productive way.
The capitalists have figured out a fairly good way to use people in an efficient manner, but they have never figured out how to get the most out of a system of education. As a result, only kids in neighborhood with high property taxes have good schools. More than half of the raw material is not well processed.
There ought to be a third way.

The European system perplexes me. Because it seems to work. A similar system in the U.S. would simply get over-run and bogged down with misuse of services. I have my guesses why it happens but don't currently have the numbers to back it up. So I'll leave it at that.
Suffice it to say that good enforcement of laws intended to weed out fakes and opportunists is simply not enough. There must be a general conscience on the part of the people who might abuse the systems. Without that, all the enforcement in the world would simply be moot.

Yes, they forced you to go to a school you had no choice in attending. No matter how bad the school is or what they teach, attendance is mandatory.
So instead of going to a good school where they teach things you want to know, you were forced to attend a government run school where they taught you things they wanted.
Why exactly should you be thankful? Your freedom, money, and choice of education was stolen from you. I'd be mad.
